If a company hired only hazmat drivers, they have employees who are a cut above the usual "high school diploma or GED" crowd. They have employees who can actually read a Bill of Lading, and who have survived a national agency check. They also have employees who are ambitious enough to study for a written test. The company should pay for the background check and fingerprinting.

Well I guess that answers it, I guess I am going to start studying for the hazmat. Might as well do tanker while I am at it. Work will pay for the test and I will probably do it on company time.

Went in to my local DMV to add Hazmat and Tanker to my CDL. They not only gave me those tests but all the tests. If you have more than a year from the date that you got your CDL they make you take all the tests again.

Sounds like California with their above and beyond requirements. I let mine lapse because we don't haul hazardous, and are not bonded to do it. No one said anything about having to take all of the tests again, just the Hazmat.
I did have to fill out a questionnaire and sign it as to why I wasn't renewing the endorsement. -
I got mine to have it....now I just got hired # US Express & if you haul hazmat you get .02 extr per mile....
ok .02 per mile means 5000 miles to pay for it ( 100.00 )
hope I Get some HazMat.
