Eventhough I have run Hazmat in the past, and just recently renewed it as well - somehow it passed me by that you NEED to keep a copy of the 2008 ERG book in the truck. It's a DOT violation if your hauling a Hazmat load and run thru an inspection and can't produce this book if asked.... With CSA2010, who wants to take a chance?? I won't give anyone any reason to cite me...
It can be ordered for a nominal charge online:

Or, you can download a pdf copy of it and print it out, but its 378 pages:

A new version comes out every 3-4 years and I believe the next update is 2012.

you are exactely right there---i always have at least 2 books in truck--spare placards under the bunk--make surehaz iss locked and secure--and always have the bol in drivers side window if out of the truck
dot can probabely find enough wrong with out me giving them more ammo
i take haz very serious--think i have hauled more of that than anything else
and always duct tape placards on as well---hate seeing them fly out of the holder
