Sounds like they made a slight change to the hazmat endorsements. Must go along with the Patriot Act. When I got my CDL in 1999, tankers was 'T', hazmat was was 'H', and doubles/triples was 'N'. 'X' was something different. If ya had T and H, you were good for hazmat no matter what you had for a wagon. At least that was my understanding of it.

It was a change due to the patriot act. I got my hazmat and tanker not too long ago and it was H for haz and x for tank+haz. Was a big pain in the ### too. Fed background check + fingerprints and lots of dues. Almost wish I didn't get it now that I'm not driving anymore. LOL

My endorsement is X and I hauled hazmat for OD in a dry van, it just means you have both hazmat and tanker.....

and you all got my to wondering........the back of my license, under endorsements says: Hazmat, Tanker, DBL/TR

If it shows up beside your endorsements you should be good

The back of my license beside Endorse: S-school bus, T-Dbl/Tpl trailers, X-Tank/Hazmat, P-passenger

When I moved back to WI in 2005, I dropped the hazmat, as the state was still working out how they were going to be doing the background checks. I wasn't and am still not driving, so it's not a big deal to me. I'd have to actually look at the latest info for WI to see what the deal is.

I think you should be good with that. It has both so it would be a X anyway. Even though its not listed as one.

I had all the endorsement when I first got my CDL 11 years ago but dropped hazmat when they started requiring the background checks. I added it back this past summer and got the TSA letter back 7 days after I applied for it and did the fingerprints. DMV in Evansville,In said that is the fastest they had ever seen it come back.
