When you remove the hazmat placards from an intermodal container is it necessary to remove the UN number decal?

Key is all traces should be off that container. (And your tractor that towed it etc.)

IF something happened and that container was eh.. reloaded with potato chips and that UN number stayed on it, guess what. Fire will have no choice other than to deploy resources SPECIFIC to that UN Number product as outlined in the Hazmat response book.

That's also why your spare placards as self sticking should go into a small opaque locking handle equipped container. That way if you wrecked you don't scatter say radioactive all over the mess. Because they again will isolate you and proceed according to manual.

    Definitely.

If it’s one of the orange rectangular ones, that’s the same as a diamond shaped placard.
