We start running hazmat with a rental trailer this week and cant screw or rivet to the trailer. I saw something similar and came up with my own version. The trailer we ordered should be here in 6-8 more weeks.

Get 3 pcs of C channel
    Bolt placard to C channel
Long enough you can run a bolt all the way through it
    Put in channel on trailer
Now another bolt under neath it so it will not bounce out.
Front of trailer 3 magnets them heavy haul folks use. Bolt you're placard to.
Those placards like to walk away at night

A piece of 2x4 and an aluminum placard holder works.Just put it in a stake pocket, all 4 sides of the trailer. They're cheap looking so nobody steals them.

For safety we put a 5/16X4" bolt with a rounded head and nut through the bottom and tightened with vice grips so that they can't be removed without tools.
