Your reference is not the rules. It's only a requirement to get your hazmat endorsement. The rules and regulations come from a few sources. You'd be surprised to know how many drivers do not know the laws when it comes to hazmat. One of the major references is the CFR 49 parts 100 to 177. If you haul hazmat it would be in your best interest to scan the parts that pertain to you. Warning thou, it's a government written manual and can be very frustrating finding all the information that you might come under. It will reference a lot of other parts when reading a specific rule and you're required to know that reference too. But the information is valuable. You ever wonder why a shipping label is a certain size or why it's placed where it is. That book will tell you. And of course if you get inspected and they find a shipment of hazmat all screwed up you'll get nailed for not knowing because you accepted the load.
