Yah having Hazmat is good BUT it's like standing on your hood when your pulling to the scale house screaming at the top of your lungs "INSPECT ME! ME ME! INSPECT ME! PLEASE!

Just so you know, If you have pre-pass, there are only about 3 states that make you pull into the scales with HazMat. Arkansas, Arizona and Ohio....There may be 4. But most states, if you get a green light, you just keep on going.

There are a lot of companies that don't haul Haz, so you can apply with them. FFE out of Lancaster, Tx. is one of them. And a lot of companies that do haul Haz will still hire you, but you will not be dispatched on a Haz load. Normally Haz loads will pay the driver .03 a miles premium.

Well this is probably way to much info for you guys, but here goes...

Well I was injured in the military and was no longer able to work out (which made me gain like 40lbs) and as an athlete all my life it resulted in depression at the time. Then my wife left me, resulting in my morgage falling behind as well as my other bills, I found out my father was very sick and on top of that I found out I would be discharged from the military. Needless to say I ended up drinking about a week after all this. And my ex wife talked me into going to the hospital after picking me up at a party to take me home. They kept me there for two weeks but it was considered voluntary. This was a couple years ago and with all the stuff I just listed and only being a young man at the time I think it is quite understandable lol.

He's just jealous because he can't get a Haz Mat endorsement:biggrin_25513: ...Not
only that what 55 year old man with 32 years of experience would waste his time on a truck forum with kiddos wanting to join the trucking industry.Grow up man!!! My dad is 55 as well with over 20 years of experience and 2 million+ safe driving miles and no tickets....you would think he would be over here bragging to everybody about his awesome record and experiences close calls etc.... Nope :biggrin_25523:

I feel for you because Im a little koo koo myself...The thing with mental hospitals and rehabs is that if you volunteer to go then there is no problem getting a haz mat.....The haz mat application that you will get before you take the actual written test will have a question about this...It will ask you if you ever been to a mental hospital INvoluntary.....I checked no and I got my haz mat after i passed the test, got my fingerprints, and two letters back from the feds......Problem with me was my girlfriend broke up with me so i went crazy and i voluntered to go check myself into the loony bin and started taking some prozac.....After that i found me a new woman, threw away the pills, and got over it.Please do me a favor and go get yourself a HAZ MAT :biggrin_25514:

Thank you very much man. I have been stressing about it as well... Like I said mine was a combanition of many things. Mostly my wife (who was also my High School Sweet Heart). I have since done the same thing lol and grown up quite a bit. But I did go voluntarily... Great news for me and thanks

Just a little tip about pre pass and hauling hazmat! Get a Green Light with a hazmat load on means you need to pull in! Even says so in the pre pass booklet that you didn't bother to read! You need to find that booklet or ask your company or the DOT! I was so freaking happy when we got pre pass when it came out only to find out that with that hazmat load on still meant you stood on the hood yelling and screaming "INSPECT ME PLEASE" ..................... now what if that company doesn't have pre pass? OK Climb on the hood and repeat after me..."INSPECT ME!" ROFLMAO!

I thought maybe they had changed the rules or something. I saw several hauling hazmat who must have gotten the green light and they went on by the scale.
