Perhaps if the company PAID ME MORE MONEY to pull a HAZMAT load, it would be worth keeping.

One would think, THEY CHARGE MORE MONEY TO HAUL THE STINKIN HAZMAT LOAD!!!

I get hazmat pay, on top of the regular miles paid. Nothing extravagant, but its a little more. Probably about $4-7 an hour for all the extra work that needs to be done.

    And rightly so!!!!

Most companies won't pay for a driver's HAZMAT background check/or additional endorsement. Last I knew it cost almost $100 for the background check, $10-$15 just to take the written test (you stil pay even if you fail) and, I know that Ohio requires that you pay for a new license even if you just renewed it, another $47.50!

You are doing the extra work, taking the additional risks, and subject to ALOT more scrutiny by every level of law enforcement and regulatory agencies.

HAZMAT loads cost more to ship, why shouldn't a driver share in the pay?
