I am working for a new company. They normally don't run hazmat. I have been told normal freight going west does not pay very well, but produce coming east does. I have my hazmat endorsements and said we can pull paint out there. They tried to bid $2.99 a mile, they were told to high.

So I am wondering what a paint hazmat load should be to put a bid in in and not lose out on money on the table so they can make some money to get out there and get a decent load coming back.

Check that company and make sure THEY have hazmat insurance.

Your endorsement is not a defense against taking loads that are not under HM Insurance specifically by the company if they do not have that coverage.

All of that is covered. I am just trying to see if anyone would have a good idea of what to bid for this type of load.

There's so many things that are subjective in booking freight. I'm happy with anything over $2.50. You may or may not get that. I don't know what you're looking for when you get to Reno or your contacts.

I do know that $1>$0 though. Even I know that.

That makes more sense. I will admit I don't know crap about rates and or anything about what owner ops do for their rates and what they look for in hauling a load.

I know there are some good drivers on here that can have some good insight on this and offer up an opinion. Just looking for good info on this is all.

    Thank you

Have you considered leasing on to a company that has a lot of reefer freight to get to know the ropes some?

I am just a solo guy as a company driver, but I do rock the miles out when I can get a long load. I like running east to west and back. I run out my full 11 and I love to night run, at least until that nasty white part of the year starts then I will have to adjust some. I hate mega carriers, and will never work for one again. Plus I will not drive a truck governed less than 70 either.
