There's also an important message here and that's not getting trapped on the tracks. When you stop at the tracks make sure you have enough room on the other side. I've seen plenty of times where a line of cars or even a single car in front of the truck and on the other side of the tracks stop at the light and the truck is right behind them on their bumper blowing the horn. The truck is stuck on the tracks and the car is not smart enough to know the danger. That's part of being professional having the ability to know and think for the other vehicle that effects you.
Ya, that really pisses off those four wheelers. When there is like 60 feet available on the other side, room for three or four cars, but we have to stay back and not cross the tracks!!! Hehheheee Mikeeee
Ask me if I give a flying four letter F word what the 4-wheelers think! Are they going to pay the ticket when an officer spots me stopped on the tracks? Are THEY going to pay my bills while I'm DQ'd from driving for violating the rules regarding rail crossings? If not, their opinion of what I'm doing really doesn't matter. I've got a job to do, and the law gives certain specifications about the manner in which I must perform my job. If they don't like what I'm doing, they can call their congressman and ask that the rules be changed....but I'm certainly not placing my livelihood at risk just to satisfy their childish desire to be a few feet closer to that red light.
Yeah I don't care what they're saying unless it's something about safety or my truck. I'm way more interested in what they are going to do than what they say when they get pissed. If you watch them after awhile you can tell what their moves will be. Like when they are looking at a map means they are going to turn at any second and their driving is going to be irregular. Or if the driver is on the phone and/or distracted in any way. If the driver doesn't see you and you know they are looking and paying attention elsewhere. If the vehicle has out of state plates or a rental car. Any item that you believe to be out of the normal. All these are warning items to alert you to watch closely. There's many more and the more you drive in traffic the more you pick up. I've gotten the bird so many times I thought it was the city salute. It's all good to laugh about back at the rack.
Hell, I was agreeing with you! Yeah, the 4-wheelers get upset...not my problem. If anything, I find it amusing how they can work themselves into such a tizzy over the silliest things.
