I just moved to Florida and changed my CDL over to the Bikini state, I dropped my hazmat about ten years ago and the lady at DMV told me different from the website so I want to keep up on this thread.
Seems hazmat and tanker is most wanted here and might as well tack it back on.

Ok, just came from DMV and here's the story. I took the Doubles/Triples and Hazmat and passed, after I was done another lady took care of me and told me I took the Hazmat Test but couldn't do anything because I didn't have my license, when I asked her why the other lady let me take the test and didn't explain that to me, she said "because you're suppose to know what you're doing".....after that I got extremely pissed told her a few things and went to the manager who explained to me that I can take the test but cannot go through the background and fingerprinting until I have the license, and the test is good for 30 days. So if I get the license before 30 days I just have to go back get the background and fingerprinting done and then wait for the x amount of weeks and get another plastic license with the endorsement on there.

That's a bite. The background check can take a month unless it has gotten better since my last one.

I live in Miami Dade and it took 2 weeks
After you finsh the finger print process they give you
a temp.and the new comes in the mail after Tallahassee approves you ..
Btw did mine last month ,so there working quicker than expected .. -
xlsdraw, when I renewed mine I called tallahassee and asked about it, said it was close to expiring and my perspective employer wouldn't hire me without confirmation and they finished it in less then 48 hours and sent it back, gave me a confirmation letter via email too, that was 20 months ago but I got it in about 3 weeks that way!!
Good luck!! -
Mine is due to renew so things have probably improved in the last several years.
