how hard is the hazmat test i'm thinking of geting that + dub and trips and tanker so i can have all of them. i already have passenger and school bus endorsements.
and i have one more thing. lets say i drive for pepsi for 60 hrs.. we don't run log books. seeing we are within the 100mil rule. now i also sub school bus drive on the weekends for trips and stuff.
am i putting my self over hrs buy driving the school bus? and if i am over my hrs is there any way DMV can find out.. or do you think i would ever run in to a problem?

the hazmat test may only be 30 questions. it's not that hard. just go online and take practice tests. your DMV will have a hazmat test booklet for you as well.
you still have to maintain your duty hours. you NEED to watch this...if you get into an accident, they will crawl into "your crawl space" and hang you out to dry... you NEED your rest. so YES, it can be found out you are over working yourself. the DMV may not be your problem, as much as the DOT and lawyers WILL BE. -
so with in the 100mil rule when not runing log books its 60 in 5 days.. but 70 in 6 days right?

The 100 mile rule means you do not need to run log books if you return to and are released from work 12 hours or less. Plus you can not drive over 11 hours IIRC. Then you need 10 hours off duty or 8 hours off duty if hauling people. You might be in violation because you may not be getting enough off duty. You may also be required to supply both work places what you are doing to keep their records clean too. The 7 or 8 day rule does not apply as far as I've found. Please don't try to cut conners here because you could be hung out to dry if you violate the rules. Lawyers love to find truck drivers not in abeyance of the laws and regualtions because they win no matter who's at fault. You need to check out all the FMCSA rules and you can start at § 395.1(e)(1) and §395.8(j).
jakebrake12 Thanks this. -
You are correct that there's no difference regarding the short-haul exemption whether you're running a 60 or 70 hour book. We switched from 60 to 70 hour logs this year and logs are still not required if you meet the criteria - like Gashauler said though, don't cut corners..
