Hey, new to forums and new to trucking

I've read both the FAQ, (as well as clicked the links for companies hiring new graduates) and some of the threads. I wasn't really able to find out a question I had though.

My question pertains to the company as a whole in regards to freight, not if they hire graduates or not -- experience can quickly be gained.

What company or companies has anyone encountered and/or worked for that deals primarily with HAZMAT shipments? I've been told R+L Carriers is an employer who does as such but I was curious as to which company handles mostly HAZMAT, in your own personal experiences? The more dangerous the better.

Edit: I've been looking into Secured Transportation via the National Nuclear Security Administration branch of the Department of Energy but have so far come up empty.

lol, yeah I doubt that you just fill out an app and then get a Greyhound ticket to orientation.

Well no but I guess they occasionally have openings on USAJobs.gov but so far that department has only yielded engineers, not drivers.

You're probably not gonna get a gig running primarily HM as a rookie driver. Companies like the one you referenced tend to hire VERY experienced drivers.

Even with clearances in hand, this is far far beyond the scope of a rookie driver.

    The more dangerous the better?
Put that on a job application and see that works out for you...

Well what I mean is radioactive or corrosive material -- currently I'm being spoken to by ARG (after having spoken to recruiting) which is also technically a form of HM, though I'd like to know if anyone knows of any companies that deal specifically with HM? I can't seem to find it via the link, and R+L Carriers is the only company I've been informed of for this function.

Exit: I apologise for not being clear -- I plan to do ARG for experience. Other than R+L Carriers, does anyone else have any interaction with the other company(ies) and/or their equipment in regards to HAZMAT?

Old dominion does haz I believe. Bumped into a few happy drivers there, and I heard they started hiring students.

I find it kind of strange that a wannabe driver is SO interested in "The more dangerous the better" type of job.
"Well what I mean is radioactive or corrosive material "

That really sounds like someone desiring to get flight experience but not caring about how to take off or land... as in 9/11.

    MadeinMX Thanks this.

Frankly we all know who they are, but I for one am not discussing that here on a open forum.
