use your own sleeping bag and put the other driver's bedding in a trash bag or throw it away.

Well the dudes coming back on Monday supposedly so I don't wanna touch his crap. I wouldn't want someone to go thru my bed. Idk maybe that's just me.

Agreed, that's the way I think about it. I don't know if that's your truck now, or just for a day or until your truck comes back. That's why I mentioned 2 options. You know what's going on at that company and we have to guess about the unsaid details. Companies and dispatchers just cannot think about anything beyond equipment X needs to be at customer A by this time, or usually I've assigned load 1234 to driver JT and the rest is up to him. The things you mention are the exact things that wound me up when I was driving. But drivers need to understand companies and dispatchers are not managing 1 driver, but running an assembly line that never stops. Until a new driver has been around and successful enough at each company to be treated as trusted and reliable you're the FNG getting what hasn't been given to someone else yet. It gets better but they still forget to sort out if that customer is open on this Monday holiday, for example, because nobody but the driver thinks to ask that question. Hang in there and also keeping score is likely to make you crazy faster than it is to fix their problems. That drove me metal bending mad all the time I drove. I should have laughed it off. I wanted to do bad things to people sometimes and never did.

Yeah I feel bad for the guy that the company would treat him this way. This is his regular assigned truck. He's just on vacation. All his stuff is still in here. His bed is made. His headset was still plugged in. He'll be back soon. And any vacation he got from this account he definitely earned. He's been here a while too. His name is on top of the board.

This is one of those accounts where it's just nothing is easy. Every single stop has problems. The thing is they bring me in as a flex driver, but they give me the same routes as the guy who's on vacation. He does it every week and they said he usually runs most of his clock out. So it's really hard to try and fill that spot coming in blind. Tonight I'm not even going to be close. I only finished about half the route. But I had lots of problems. I just popped a steer tire. Lucky I was still in the parking lot. I'm not sure what happened. But I hope they fix it before my 14 runs out because I want to get to a hotel

Well 2nd breakdown in 2 days. Liftgate just completely stopped working. This is the worst job I've ever had. It's worse than the one that made me quit Schneider on the spot the first time. But I'm not going to quit...yet. At least this job pays a living wage.

    Anyways here's a question.

Yesterday the steer popped, and the wheel was also damaged. So it got replaced and the mobile mechanic told me to get the lugs re torqued at 50-100 miles. I told the dispatcher that and he pretended he was deaf at that particular moment so no help from him.

What's the move? Do I just ignore it like my dispatcher or is this important?

It's not my truck so I don't really care, but I also don't want to have another break down.

    Lonesome Thanks this.

Follow up question, how much can my liftgate be down and still legal to drive? Does it have to be fully stowed? Or do you just need to see the DOT tape?

It supposed to be locked or chained.

Failure to do so is a out of service unsecured load ticket.

gentleroger and Mega Express Thank this.

This is why you make sure your assigned truck goes into the shop with a long punch list when you go on vac. That way the company can’t easily try to do this to you.

My company uses the Maxon liftgates. There’s no locking mechanism.
