If it it is on the truck it must meet standards set forth by the DOT/FMCSA and the standards of the inspecting state! It is up to the final determination of the inspecting office as to weather or not it meets the requirements. That is right from several DOT officers, One of which is my brother and the other is a capt for CHP. The bottom line is if the want to nit pick they can, why ask for more than you need
Like I said, many of the so called headache racks are nothing more than a place to hang your chains and binders. Check out the disclaimer stickers on the side of some of them.
ok, since fmcsa doesn't require them , what are the standards for them? they got to have a basis for the nit pick also.
I don't have a headache rack, I have a chain hanging apparatus, I read the green book cover to cover and cant find the requirements for a chain hanging rack with 2 small notches cut out of the right side
