Anyone know if there's a kit to do a unibilt conversion? Or is it a do it yourself job making it work just right?
flattops aren't made for jumping jacks, that's for sure. 5'7" ish n I have to stoop a bit in mine.

I don't know about a kit, but I know some shops will do it, I've seen a few 359s that've had it done.

Yea its not a kit but there are a few that can do it. One in searcy wanted me to let them put a 48 inch unibilt on mine at no cost for advertisement. I really thought about it. I also have a double door 36 that is straight as I ever seen. But in the end having the sleeper cab and frame numbers match won. I know its not an old camaro or chevelle it wouldn't matter on my pete I just thought it be cool.

Because of the plug'n play nature of the cabs, you might be better off purchasing a cab with sleeper and replacing your non unibilt cab and sleeper with it. Find a unibilt that is wired for your engine, and swap.

This because there are 2 large seal rings, one for the sleeper, one for the cab. A seal to go between them. 4 cab to sleeper brackets. An air suspension system for the back of the unibilt that is usually different than the one on a non unibilt. And a lot of cutting, drilling and riveting.

When you think about it, the only advantage to the unibilt is the seat to steering wheel range. When entering the sleeper from the cab, you still have to fit between the seats and over any cup hold you have between the seats. So the sleeper entry really is'nt all the much better. But you can sure slide the seat back a good bit more in the unibilt.

As far as ride. After driving both using the same year and model truck, The unibilt is almost boat like until you get used to it as the whole unit weighs more and is all suspended. I think the front cab mounts are different on the unibilt than the non as well.

You may have been better off by not doing it, I have spoke with people about it and the older cabs do not have the proper braces in place to give the proper support and eventually it takes it's toll on the cab integrity.

I have a 900L. Can't switch to a cab n sleeper with one I don't believe. And no air ride on my sleeper nor cab. Just was curious if there was a kit with that conversion in mind. I'm just looking for more room between the wheel n the back wall of the cab. O well. Figured it'd be a lot of fab work. Thank you gentlemen.

Yea that was my thought too Smokin Cat. I didn't want to have a pile in a year or few months. They did show me some of the braces that had to come out and this goes there to do that ones job, sounded good and well researched I just hate being a guinea pig. Especially with my families bread winner. Being a shorter fella I don't need any more room between the seat and wheel. What I would like to have in it is tilt wheel. I'm sure that it can be done without a lot of headache just hadn't researched it. My research is walking around the bone yard looking for something that will work look decent, with little modification. Or Run across some one that has done it and get instructions. lol

Peterbilt kc does the unibilt conversion deal. But not cheap they say 4500+ looking at 6000. But looks factory. Down for 2.5-3 weeks.
