Anybody install a headache rack on a truck with a battery box between the frame rails? I’m looking at headache racks for my Volvo, they all seem to be mounted with the 4 u-bolts to the frame rails, but I have a battery box there for my eAPU, does not seem to be adequate clearance

I have seen them mounted by using 8 inch bolts from multiple heavy(1/2 inch thick) angles welded to the legs of the rack down to steel angles bolted to the frame. All 6 long bolts were 3/4 inch or better and the frame bolts were 5/8 or better.

The company I work for is had to deal with that for a while on Internationals. They wind up modifying where the box is placed as well as some of the catwalk steps. It's probably going to have to be a custom job.

    cke Thanks this.
