Well, no amazing developments. Sitting in the hotel here in Springfield. (again)
Simple process here. I contact my SDM at 9 am. Telling him that I will be going by Springfield, OH around 5 pm. He says no problem, I will get you booked into the hotel and get your trainer ready for another student.
Great.
My trainer asks me if my SDM planned on sending this through the Qualcom like he is supposed to) I didnt know, so at 1 pm I call back asking if he got everything squared away.
Sorry man. I havent had a chance to do it. I will get it done before you get there. RIGHT. So, we pull in the hotel lot and I still have no reply. I call again, he says....sorry man. I will do it right now. ok, non smoking room please with no room mate, I will pay the extra to be in a single room. No problem. I tell him I am getting off the truck. He says, no you gotta stay on till I get the message to you. THEN GET IT HERE. It never came, so I told my trainer I was getting my stuff and going in. He said ok, and we parted ways.
I get into the hotel and they have my name, but they tell me its a smoking room with a roomate. What? didnt you get the message? yes, he just said to book a room. So, I almost didnt get a single nonsmoking due to the number of people they got here. I got situated and here I sit. Gotta go to the terminal in the AM.
We'll see how that goes. Still sticking it out.... FOR NOW.
Headed back to Werner.

slatherd, i am truly enjoying reading all of your posts...i can not wait until the next update! -
Yeah lead foot but the bonus is ON TOP of the pay, so its 400+375
Plus you get paid for hometime of your trainer and get a cushy hotel.
As for the disrespectful SDM was that Marcy or something like that I and her got into a huge spat once on the phone and i told her i was like three mins from omaha she shutup -
This will be the last update to this thread.
I have been rolling solo since Late March. I finally got my truck, It's an 05 century. Not a bad truck, clean but has a few miles. I'm not gonna get into the grief I had to get this truck. Lets just say do you expect anything less?
I get the truck and roll. I acually was able to get on the Kraft Dedicated account. .32 cents a mile. This being much better than the .24 cents a mile they pay you when you got 48 state. And also better than the sliding pay scale they put you on when you run a regional. 24-38 cents depeding on your milage. When you run regional, they love to give you those 600 mile runs. that lowers your potential for the higher milage pay.
I cant complain much. other than getting me home, they do run me. I get about 2200-2800 miles a week. I also get to go a lot of the same places, so I know what to expect. My dispatcher, while a man of few words does get me running and keeps me running. since I came back out on the 9th of April I have had only to loads that I didnt have a preassigned waiting for me when it was done.
If you are going to Werner, I still say dont. but ig you must....Stick out the training, get your experience and move on. Look at it like a stepping stone. Its gonna suck. But it will get better.
I hope my posts here give someone a heads up. Now, this is just my personal experience. I have a friend they got a trainer and they hit it off so well, he came back to Werner to team drive with him. So its all luck (or bad luck) of the draw.
Good luck either way. -
Thanks for all the info on Werner training! I'm staring soon out of Springfield, OH myself & was actually feeling pretty blue about it (no pun intended) as Werner was not my 1st choice of company to go with (shocking, I'm sure). But it's nice to hear that sometimes it's not *soooo* bad & if you stick it out it may eventually get better. Good luck everything!

All i can say is...... Be prepared and take EVERYTHING with a grain of salt.

terminal. anyone?? -
very helpful for deciding on Werner or not. Not as bad as the bigscrew reports

Leadfoot,
You aren't being persnickety, just factual. And I'm with you, why go back to a place you don't like being at.
When I was told the story about how C. L. started out, I was impressed and when I look at Werner Enterprises and all of it's holdings, I am even more impressed. Not only are they the fourth largest carrier in America but they have facilities in Canada, Mexico and China. One guy with one truck and he's evolved into what's there now. Wow, I'm sorry that our other poster wasn't, wonder what it takes? LOL
