I totally understand the frustration, yet in time it will get easier. The thing that helped me most for backing, was to watch my trailer tires. If I started loosing them on the right, I turn slightly towards the left... held it till I seen the tires and straightened the wheel. The other thing that helped when I would get confused... "while looking at the cones" turn towards the problem. For me though, when I watched the cones, I found myself over compensating. So use what helps you more.
What method are they teaching you to use for parallel parking? I'm still working on getting parallel parking.

there using steps to do parallel.. ive got so much information overload from the past two days its hard to member. one thing im struggling with is overthinking when im backing and trying not to think is not something thats easy to turn off and on. i did manage to start doing that at the end of the day but it was hard..

Hang in there, it will get better. Just take one day at a time. By the end, you will look back and be amazed at how far you have came in a short period of time.

i need some advice, after 2 weeks on the range here at ait, i feel like im not making any progress or getting any better at backing then i did last week, im not so sure if this was a good idea anymore. what sticks out in my mind is what one of the instructors said to group last week. It was something along the lines of. i dont really care if you listen to what im telling you, im only here for the money. Im kinda at a crossroads of what to do. should i leave and try and get on with a company that can provide better range/road practice or should i stick it out .?

Are you going to weekend classes or week day classes?
The more you practice. The better you will get. You should be learning other maneuvers that will consist of backing. These will help you get better at backing. Lean to watch your mirrors and trailer tires ON BOTH SIDES.
options you can use when BACKING:
Option 1: turn towards the problem. If you see you are getting close to the cones on the right, slightly turn to the right.

(If you hold your hand in the 12 o'clock position, slight turns means not going past 9 or 3. Depending on which way you need to turn)

Option 2: if you are loosing the ability to see your trailer tires on one side, turn the wheel towards the one you see.

I would not quit. If you finish the class and still can not get your CDL. Then look at going to a company sponsored school. If you quit... you may not get your money back.
Also don't let your teacher discourage you. I think it is also their job to see if you have the guts and determination to see it through.
Sorry it took me so long to get back to you. I have a lot going on this week.
