Thanks for the well wishes! I parted ways with my trainer today. I took the two tests and passed them both! I got to spend some time on the simulator today.
I was working on only 3 hrs of sleep. I made it through the obstacle course without hitting anything...but I almost lost my cookies! It was the wierdest sensation.
The instructor said it was because I was really tired. I will do the second part tomorrow.
Also have to sit through some safety training videos. I also get to meet my fleet manager tomorrow as well. My own truck can not be that far off! -
Thats great Jim! Goodluck to you. How many tests are there? I will be heading to NLR next week.
-
Congrats Jim and good luck with the remaining tests tom. Hopefully you and your trainer didnt break down in the terminal and start weeping and hugging each other !
Get some rest and good luck !!
-
There was no hugging! lol On the eval you take a test on securement, qualcom and navigation. When you are finished with that, they give you a trip to run. You have to plan the course, do all of your logs as if you were on the trip. Do a fuel stop.
You then have to tell them the route you took. Your eta, and the miles that you drove. I was about 50 miles shorter than what they had...so they were happy.
I got my truck. It is a 2007 Freightliner Columbia. It has 354,000 miles on it.
I have to inventory it tomorrow to make sure I have all the right equipment on it.
I will also unfold my steel tarps and refold them just to make sure they are folded properly.
I am waiting for an inverter that I ordered on line. Do not order anything from Brandnamez.com. I paid for fast delivery early last week. They said they were going to ship it last friday. It was shipped out yesterday. They stink!
So as soon as I have it installed...I will be ready to roll! -

From what you learned in school, orientation/securement training and time with trainer did you find the final eval to be a daunting task or just a matter of employing the things you learned?
As time allows please continue to post on your progress and experiences; as I will draw from them and hopefully continue to increase my knowledge and preperation for what may some day be a career change/lifestyle for me/wife.
Once again; congratulations, continued success and most importantly GOD speed. -
I never doubted you would suceed. You have obviously worked hard to achieve this. Best of luck and be safe out there.
