    Chief,

Thank you for your service! Boy I wish they had email, internet and all the other good stuff when I was in. Used to wait weeks to get a letter or news from home. Mail call was an exciting time!

@Fratsit, you do understand that I am the wife of a Maverick trucker. My "hard work" only consists of taking care of the finances, the pets (6 cats - 1 more than likely pregnant when she selected us as her family - and 7 fish) and the household with an occasional helping him out with helping out with trucking stuff (helped secure a load correctly once and helped him set up the truck). My dedication is to my husband and helping him make a success of his career.

Thank you for your service. I know only a small portion of what that is like, my stepfather is a retired TechSergeant from the Air Force and he told me some of his experiences from his service. My father-in-law is also retired from one of the armed services and I have heard from him some of his experiences as well.

Thank you Jim, Sewerman, NoTarps, and others for such an informative thread.:biggrin_25514: I read the whole 183 pages! :biggrin_25523:
I have made up my mind that I'm going to try to get on with Maverick. I submitted an App. online last week. Also, I have talked to a recruiter. Looking to start after the first of the year.

One question that he couldn't answer right away was.....what is the weekly premium for the health insurance (single). I'm waiting on an email with this information, but was wondering what is your guys honest opinion on the coverage vs. cost. This is not a make or break concern, just want to make a good, informed decision.

Also how much do you guys run down I-94 to/from Detroit? I live about 7 miles from the T/A and Pilot(s) at exit 167

I'm sure I'll have more questions if y'all don't mind me asking. Stay safe out there and God bless

Don't quote me but I do believe for a single it is $50 or $60 I know for family $100. I myself run up into Michigan a lot out of Fort Smith Arkansas. I live at the south end of Lake Michigan 10 miles from the Michigan line.

Evil_E you live in a very good area for steel. Lots of inbound and outbound freight there so hometime should be not be a problem much.

Thanks, that's not too bad in today's terms. Insurance has gotten to be almost as expensive as having nothing. Great place to call home too...hope you like snow tho:biggrin_2559:
Awesome that's what I was wondering.

i've also observed a drop in fuel milage when using cruise, but that's irregardless of terrain, I don't use it on hilly stretches of freeway.

Is "flr" = "front looking radar"?

Does anyone know if pre-trip inspection is part of the driving test at orientation? Just wondering if I should brush up on that prior to heading to NLR.
