Got out of Freightliner in 4hrs. I think that's a record with them. They said my DEF valve was closed. He fixed that and did a re-gen on it. Man did that tank my mpg!!! I was getting 7.7mpg going in there. When I left it was down to 4.8 mpg.
It's been fun running for Maverick. I have met a lot of great drivers and I have met some like Sewerman talked about; ones that will tell you to hurry up and not offer to help or just sit there and watch. But, I have met more good drivers than bad ones. However, I will be turning my truck in after Christmas. I'm taking a new position with the State of Tennessee and it couldn't have worked out more perfectly. I can apply to go back to college and get my Masters Degree in Criminal Justice with a concentration in Forensic Psychology. Hope everyone has a safe Christmas and New Year!
If any of you ever go to Dixie Industries in Chattanooga, TN. The work assignment says no O/N Parking, but there is room for one truck to park on the street in front of their warehouse. That is, if you run out of hours sitting there. I wouldn't recommend going in there the night before I was suppose to be there just to park; so that you would have fresh hours to run on though. It is tight both getting in and out of their facility. The guy told me it's not the safest place to park; so I just locked everything up and no one bothered me.

My appointment to Huntingsburg on the 20th was for 0815 so I rolled in there around 7. It had been raining like crazy all morning long so there was no getting untarped before I pulled in under the cover. There was a Western Express that went out of line and then a truck getting loaded and a Maverick before me. They were moving extremely slow. I helped the Mav in front of me get all of his tarps off and he in turn helped me. There were a couple of other Mav's that came over to help out as well. The faster they got me done, the quicker they could get in. I got a preplan while I was waiting to pick up at AK Steel in Rockport and go to North Jackson Ohio for a friday at 11:00 Delivery.
Got over to AK and got in pretty quick. The winds were gusting up to about 50 mph but the rain finally stopped. I asked if they wanted me to tarp in or out and they said just tarp out side. I put my canvas on and stuck the excess inside the ends of the coil, thinking it would hold...wrong...It blew off and I could not get it back on or folded so it just got crammed inside my tarp box.
Lucky for me driver from another company helped me hold my steel tarp down so I could pin the corners, or I might still be there. It took awhile, but I finally got it finished and turned out looking ok.
I was hoping to make it up to Jeffersonville Oh, but there was a wreck at the I71/I75 spilt north bound in Ky, so I went south and spent the night at the Flying J in Walton Ky.
Headed out at 0400 and my goal was to make it throgh columbus Ohio before rush hour. It was just starting to snow when I left and by the time I got to Mt Gilead it was like a blizzard......after all it was the first day of winter. I sent my fleet manager a message asking if I was going to dead head home after my delivery.....got a message back saying he did not know yet....I thought great....lol.
Made my delivery an hour early and got to pull into a nice large, warm, dry dock to get un-tarped and unloaded. It was nice.
Sent my mt in and got a dead head move shortly there after. So I made it home in about 2.5 hours and I am relaxing.
I did 2944 miles this week on recap. I will say that I did feel rushed, but I made it and will enjoy the pay!
In case I do not get back on here.....MERRY CHRISTMAS!sewerman Thanks this. -
