Got a flatbed now, hauling glass, but prefer the step deck, for climbing on/off when loading. Took a load of tubing out of Sterling Pipe in Toledo 2 weeks ago down to Asheville NC, on a step deck, can't beat it for tarping. I'd say about half our loads of glass are on a flat/step, other half on double drop. Prefer the flat/steps, can't back a double drop with any grace whatsoever!

My subconscious was in trucker mode last night. I could not stay up past 21:30.
Hopefully when they come to jump me this morning the truck will start. The one panel should be dried out since it quit raining. Also, now that my bunk light will not stay on anymore, the battery should not run down. I really hope that takes care of it.
It is a bit unsettling not knowing for sure exactly what was causing the problem.
It makes sense that if that bunk light was on for over a week with the truck only being started and run for a short spell when I checked it, that it would eventually run the battery down.
That is my theory and I am sticking to it...lol
Hope everyone has a great week!

The appointment was set for 8 this morning. I got there my customary 15 minutes early and the guy from Rusty's Towing was already there and had the two bad batteries replaced! Now that Is Service!
He showed me the load test on the batteries and they were bad!
So I feel much better about heading out this afternoon!
But until it actually starts...I will be apprehensive...lol

My wife and I made a trip to Maverick's home office in Little Rock today, about 525 miles round trip, to talk with my recruiter and to get a tour of the facility. I was impressed with their training facility, how organized and clean everything was and how they emphasize safety. They also have some truly awesome looking equipment. Top of the line stuff. I can see they care about their drivers. We were very impressed with what we saw and my recruiter was very thorough answering all our questions. From what I have read on this forum and what we saw today I am definitely making the best decision to go drive for them. I will be getting an orientation date as soon as my wife has a minor surgery done in next couple of weeks, and will be heading to The Rock for some serious training and the start of a great new career. Thanks for everyones posts to my questions on here and I look forward to meeting each and everyone of you. I will keep everyone posted as to how things are progressing as I go through training.:biggrin_25520:

Ok, Sorry for the delay! Orientation is over and we actualy got our job offer Wednesday evening. I'm in my first week of Extended Training. We were moved to the Gallaway yesterday to make room for the new class.
All is going well. Maverick is better every day. I will be headed for Larinburg NC Thurs. for my glass securement class! I've been given my new "Handle" by my new Maverick family I guess I'm now the "Duke":biggrin_25525: Good luck and Drive Safe

Got back to the house around 11 am this morning. I will give the recap of my week.
1/2/11 Picked up a single coil at Columbus coatings in Columbus Ohio headed for Precision Strip in Talladega Al, for a 1700 delivery. Spent the night in Ghent Ky and then made it to Talladega by 16:30. Ended up waiting for over 2 hours to get unloaded. In the mean time, I got a pre load to pick up in Birmingham at CMC Steel for either that evening or the next day. As soon as I got unloaded and stowed away I headed over there. It was a neat place as you could see them pouring the steel. Neat glow in the dark! Spent the night there and got up the next morning and started rolling headed for Magnolia Arkansas.
It was a beautiful sunny morning and everything was going great until BOOM! Left front drive tire.....blow out!
Took about 2.5 hours to get going again.
Made it to Manolia in the dark and got unloaded. Spent the night there on the side of the road.
Next load to pick up was at JM Huber in Broken Bow OK. It was raining in the morning and very foggy. So foggy that you could not even see the exit signs on the freeway.
Got loaded and headed to Little Rock to get my trailer repaired and some things on the truck. My delivery was in Little Rock the following day.
Saw my instructors/friends and celebrated my birthday at Little Rock.
Hooked up with another driver who was a retired Navy person and had dinner at the petro.
MY truck appointment was for 15:30. I finally got it back at 00:30 on my birthday.
So I decided to sleep in since it was my birthday.
Got delivered and then got a dead head message to FT smith Ar.
Got there and was told that it would probably be Friday before I got a load.
Got my load assignment and it was for a pick up at 5 am on Friday heading to Oxford Forge in Oxford Michigan.
Called over to Mac Steel at 04:30 and they told me they were running 3 hours behind.
So I set my alarm and went to bed. After about 1.5 hours there is a bang on my door by another Maverick driver. He says...they are calling for you.
So I head over and get loaded and come back to the yard to finish my securement.I got on the road and drove 650 miles in 10.75 hours and shut down just outside Indy.
The snow and roads were starting to get bad so I was glad to stop.
Got up this morning at was rolling at 5 am. Some of the roads were bad.
I stopped in Spiceland Indiana at the Flying J and got fuel.
As I was sitting there, sewerman called me and said he was going to be there with Neighbor Dave in about 30 minutes. I told him I was heading out to get home and would catch him later.
Not a good week for miles...but it was the week after the holiday.

I have a message to the driver who trimmed his beard in the sink at Ft Smith and did not clean it up Sir...You are a Pig! ( I cleaned up your mess You left behind)

Also, Sewerman wanted me to pass along his pet pieve for the winter....you guys who only shave on the weekends so your face will stay warm in the cold!....It is time to man up and shave!

Hope you all have a great week!

MtDewMan, dollylama and sewerman Thank this.
