I attended Roadmaster in Columbus. I thought it was excellent.
Every opportunity you have to be in that truck take it...even if it is just straight line backing.
Also, do the extra programs that they have on the computer...not just the required ones...you will be glad that you did.

    MtDewMan Thanks this.

Made it back home last night. Drove over 3000 miles last week and almost 2500 this week. Was bumping my 70 the whole time. Drove every day for the last three weeks.
Got a delivery for Monday in Grove City Ohio....50 miles from here....so I have some time to take care of some things here. -6 this morning. I will check out the truck after it warms up to 20 and see if it starts!
Glad to see all the people posting on this thread!

    MtDewMan and Kutina Thank this.

Ok, hopefully I hope I can remember what I did. I drove up to Oxford Michigan on the 9th and spent the night at the consignee. Around 3 in the morning I got a knock on the door asking me if I wanted to get unloaded....I said sure and got the load off and then pulled out on the road and went back to sleep until around 8 am local....
1/10 got my next load to pick up at US Steel Great Lakes in Ecorse Mi. Picked up a single coil headed to Prinction Indiana. Spent the night at a rest area down near Princeton. Made my delivery the next morning. It was nice because I got to untarp and unload inside.
My next load was to pick up 5 coils loaded eyes to the side at Steel Dynamics in Jeffersonville Indiana. This load is going to Lowell Ar to Central States Mfg. This was 111 mt miles and 580 loaded miles.
After delivering I was dead headed up to The Mav yard and Ft Smith. for a pick up on the 12th. This load is going to Malvern Ohio. This is 71 mt miles 929 loaded miles. To be delivered on the 14th.
It is now Friday and I am only 110 miles from my house. I did not get a 34 hr restart so I have been bumping hours all week. I am thinking that I will get sent up to Cleveland and then back through the house.
My load assignment comes in and it is pick up at Centria in Ambridge PA.
I drove through the back hills of Ohio, then West Virginia and then PA. This is a very small town with very tight turns to get to where I was going.
I get there and got 8 skidded coils. This load is going back to Arkansas...this time Sheridan. Once I got loaded and made it to the nearest rest area....I hit my 70 hrs on the nose. This Load is 67 mt and 929 loaded. I am not going to be able to get home because I just do not have the hours to play with and make it on time.
I made my way to the consignee not going over my hours that I had for the time.
Spent the night at a Flying J each night and was able to watch some football.
I was able to get in early in the day so finding a spot was not a problem.
The last night I spent at Little Rock as Sheridan was only 50 miles or so away.
After I delivered I got my next load to pick up at Certainteed Corp in Little Rock.
A load of rolled roofing. I waited about 3 hours before I could get loaded and then headed back to Little Rock Yard as I only had 2 hours left for that day.
This load is 32 Mt miles and 1219 loaded miles going to East Rutherford NJ.
To deliver from 1600 to 2100 on the 19th. I was not crazy about delivering that late in the day in NJ. I was not sure where they would send me from there.
I called the consignee and asked them how early I could arrive to get staged for unloading...hoping they would tell me....come on in anytime...lol
They said I could get there as early as 2:30 in the afternoon.
So I slept in that morning and left in time to get there at 2:30. They got me unloaded at just about 4:00 Pm. I cleared it with them that I could spend the night there if I had to. I did not want to have to find a place to park late at night around there.
On the way in the view of NY city was awesome.
Once I got parked I called up Bo and asked him his advice as to what I should do. They were calling for a 3 to 8 inch snow storm. I wanted to know if I should head back west or what. He said just sit tight...then he said, here is a load going to ohio picking up at Frederick...Tamko. He said I will see if I can get it for you.
I got that load in two minutes.
It was the perfect load, because I could drive to the shipper and I knew I could spend the night there. If it snowed, I would already be there. So off I go.
after being on the NJ turnpike for about 30 minutes, I got stuck for over an hour because of an earlier accident.
Finally made it to the shipper and I parked way in the back. I tuned to their channel just in case they wanted to get in touch with me. Sure enough they hailed the truck in the back of the lot. I told him I had a pick up in the morning. He verified that and told me to pull up to the far left lane so I would be first in line in the morning. I thought..Great.
In the morning another Maverick truck pulled in. At 6 when we got called in I introduced myself to him. He says..."Are you Jim The Hut? I said Yes. He says I am firebird. We have been communicating since before I came to Maverick. It was great to finally meet him.
He was getting Shingles and I was getting another load of rolled roofing. I had to go around to dock 9.
There was a preload in there ahead of me that they had to load first.
After about an hour they got it out of the way and got me pulled in.
They start lining up all of these pallets of rolled roofing on both sides of the dock.
I am thinking that they are getting two loads ready. When they started stacking the second level on my trailer, I knew it was all mine.
When I pulled out front Firebird was all tarped and ready to leave. He got out of his truck and helped me for over 2 hours. The wind was blowing and it did snow some flurries but that was it. This was the biggest pain in the butt load I have ever had.
I think I would still be there if not for him. He finally had to leave and I am so grateful that he helped me...THANK YOU DAVE!!!!!!
This load was 235 mt miles and 351 loaded miles delivering in Grove City Ohio.
50 miles from my house. I made it home last night. Got the truck fueled up and additive put in as the temp made it down to -6 deg.
I did go up and start it today. It took about 4 attempts before it would run...but she did.
I will do the same tomorrow.
So last week I drove over 3000 paid miles and this week I drove 2,247 miles.
My guess I will load a coil right out of Columbus headed South on Monday....but in Pin Ball trucking.....you just never know!:dontknow:

Another thing I liked about maverick. The brotherhood of most of the drivers helping each other. When the matching qualcom time started I wondered if that would carry on the same.
