Only if you have a 75MPH truck and want to drive that fast, and it's summer. Otherwise run via Albuquerque and avoid the many winter pitfalls of Wyoming and the traffic snarls of Denver metro, and save the 30 miles and enjoy the much prettier and easier drive.
Granted Provo to Ogden can be bad [traffic] if you hit it at the wrong time but I still rather run that way rather then play Russian roulette with Wyoming.
Heading into Oregon first time. Any advice

You might get lucky. Long range models seem to be keeping most of the Day 5 and 6 snow accumulations to higher areas of WA, northern ID, and MT but would not be surprised to see some Wx between Pendleton and Baker at some point in that timeframe.

Have your permit before you get to the scale like the one fella said or you'll get a warning since its your first time there.
If you buy fuel you'll need your #.
Medford is known as Methford by the locals. I really liked the cheap super 8. Street parking for trucks/trailers + a water slide. Weee.
Twin sisters area is one of the best areas to drive thru for views. You come out into the Colorado dunes desert. Pretty hidden little gem. Be fun on a bike.x1Heavy Thanks this. -
Twin sisters, colorado dunes desert?

Maybe he came from Ontario through Burns down 97 then up the hill through Sisters? That would be through high desert into bueatiful mountains.
x1Heavy Thanks this. -
and why do I have to drive 75?
your going up old 666 has a few potential snow/ice situations.
there is also a danger from porcupines on your route. You ever try to pull their quills out of a tire/
Oh well, as long as we get the load to the dock on time it is all good. -
Yes. It's definitely shorter via Albuquerque (Amarillo to Boise)
I'm just saying if you're limited to 65 MPH then you're not gaining much time by going the extra miles via Denver over 75 MPH interstates. The views and reduced traffic stress through SW Colorado and UT are well worth saving the miles and adding more 2-lane to me. Our company will route and pay up to 400 miles OOR to avoid Wyoming I80 December through March.rearview Thanks this.
