Again you're correct about them not taking you if you aren't pretty fresh out of school and went to school with no breaks in it.
They wouldn't take me because I had a break in my schooling. It was between the class room and driving due to the weather. I had an almost 200 mi round trip everyday. The community college decided that it was safest for me to wait a month until the weather got better, so I did. Crete was my first choice.
Now I am a trainee at Werner and quite pleased with the entire experience.

kickin chicken Thanks this. -
ccolvin, if your experience is as good as mine has been so far, you'll be pleased. i've had two good trainers and great equipment. i've had no complaints or problems. if you go into it with a good attitude you should be successful. good luck!
JimTheHut Thanks this. -
well so far werner is better than crst, im just hoping i can get a good truck. But then again im low man on the totem pole hah

I am thinking about applying to Werner for there CDL training school. Does anybody know anything about it? Also I have a felony for child support on my record. Will this hurt me much?
-
as far as the felony goes im not sure, but basically with werner you pay for school up front as they go through a 3rd party. Werner does reimburse you for the school monthly once you get going. After you graduate school you will do 300 hours of training. Thats logged hours. After that you test out and get assigned your truck. I just started with werner but ill try to answer as many questions as possible.
-
I just talked to a recent graduate, who is in his mid 40's, he applied to werner and they had concerns about an MIP (minor in possesion) when he was in highschool, his recuiter told him she would see what she could do, but that they (werner) are being real picky right now.
I was amazed. if companies like werner are being that picky it is going to make it tough for many newbies. -
well when i called recruiting they were limited on room for new drivers, but they got me in, i just fit into the inexperienced group since i had less than 6 months. So im sure with the economy the way it is it may be hard. If werner dont take you you can try crst, not the best but its good to get your foot in the door.
