Heading off to Werner

That's the problem . Why would newbies think it would be easy ? Werner's 3rd quarter report said they reduced their fleet by 10% . Doesn't that mean they have 10% less drivers ? How many thousands of newbies are being released to an industry that eliminated over 90,000 jobs in the past year ? Yeah , it's tough for newbies . If they think getting a job is tough wait until they see the job they get at companies hiring newbies IF they manage to get a job .

I got preapproved for Werner last week. I graduated trucking school yesterday and I was supposed to report to Fontana,Ca on Wed. Unfortunately, I had to reschedule for next week. My recruiter promised that I would be able to be home for christmas and as long as I return prior to the 30th, they will reimburse my travel cost. Has anyone else been promised this? I have been reading through this forum and there are alot of negatives being said about Werner. Guess I will need to find out for myself, but so far I have had a good experience and easy communication with my recruiter. Hopefully everything continues to go well.

 

They will reimburse your travel cost up to a certain amount I do believe.

 

Yes if I drive myself, They reimburse up tothe amount of a bus ticket. I meant to say that I need to get my own round trip bus ticket to make it home for Christmas. As long as I return by the 30th of Dec, they will reimburse total amount. If I return after the 30th, I eat the whole cost.

No not there yet. I was supposed to arrive on the 9th. But now I am scheduled for the 16th. I just had to much stuff to get in order. They will be having me come down on the 14th though. Apparently although fontana is an 71/2 hour drive from Reno, the bus ride is over 18 hours. They didnt want me arriving after midnight and starting orientation 4 hours later. Thoughtful of them wanting to make sure I am rested. Is this true about the 500.00 bonus for doing all your time in one stretch. I hadn't heard that before. I was planning on coming home for Christmas but I may rethink that now. Need money more that spending 2 extra days on a bus.

 

Yes, you will get the $500 (little less after taxes), after delivery of your first load. But you do have to do the 300 hours all in one shot.

 

What does Werner pay cpm when you start off in your own truck after training?
