Well...an update. LOL... my instructor, on his way in Thursday morning, had his trailer struck by lightning...it jumped from the trailer to the stack then through the truck. I went to pick him up at Peterbuilt where they said it should be fixed Monday. So, another weekend at the hotel lol. While all my classmates are packing up to go with their drivers, I'll be doing some decorationg in my apartment here.....

Sorry to hear that. Bummer. At least you will be on a Peterbuilt. Nice. Good luck with everything and remember to keep us all posted. Headed to SPRIMO in October.

Less interior storage space. The ISX is a POS.

Figures. I knew the ISX is a POS. I thought they came with the CAT C15's. Oh well. Nevermind then. What engine is in the Cascadia's or Century's?

CAT quit building engines for class 8 trucks starting with the 2010 EPA requirements. Now don't get me wrong, an ISX can be a good power plant, but the EGR problems they run into tend to cause worse problems than the other manufacturers from what I've seen. It also seems that Cummins can't get many of those problems fixed.

The Centuries have a Detroit DD60-series engine in them, as do the early Cascadias. The newer Cascadias have a DD15.

Yeah I heard the DD15 are pretty nice. Now I remember somewhere I heard the Volvo's have been getting better fuel economy. No chance that Prime goes with Volvo's? I have heard mixed reviews but heard their VN 780 Model is nice.

What I "hear" hanging around the shop in general is that Volvo's require too much maintenance for Prime to be interested. I've also "heard" its nearly impossible to get parts for them - without giving them a weeks' notice. No experience with them, so that's all I can offer.

That is probably the Volvo motor Ironpony. I have heard the same. I use to drive a Volvo with a 575/1850 DD with an 18 speed and 3.73 rears. That thing ran like a top and it is still running like a top with over 700K on it. I loved that truck because it was so quiet and floated down the road. Great truck aslong as there is not a Volvo motor in it.

They are a heavier truck so thats a good reason why they dont use them.
