Truckstops ain't a danged movie theater. My truck moves in the dark, my lights are on. There's just to many knuckleheads driving to fast in these truckstops to take any chances or do it any other way. I couldn't care less about bothering some knothead that's still setting behind the wheel playing radio rambo games. Safety first.

Always turn your markers off when sitting in a dock. A shorted clearance light at the top on the back of a trailer CAN set that dock seal on fire (dont ask me how I know this...).

if i'm in a situation where my lights will rake across parked trucks ( like when im pulling out of the fuel islands) i turn them off till i pass, then back on. I agree it's not enough to see where i'm going but i want the trucks coming at me to know i'm in motion. I rarely sleep at truck stops plus i use my curtain when i sleep so the light issue dosent really affect me. but, i will try to be as courtyous as possible with my lights when i can. when i am at the shipper/receiver i leave them on untill i'm backed in, if another truck is trying to back i turn them off untill he's in. that just seems to be common courtesy to me.

I'm a new driver but this is how I see it...even if it's just backing up. Head lights let's another person know that vehicle is still positioning it's self or could be about to move etc. So I don't cut my head lights off until I'm fully parked.

I keep mine on when I am moving, unless the area is lit very well. Kind of like some Wal-Mart DCs. However, if there is someone near me backing I do shut them off and just use the markers. As far as backing in a hole and people already parked complaining about lights in their eyes, well, at that point isn't it kind of their fault? I'm not saying I would purposefully rake my headlights across a bunch of sleeping trucks, but if I am parking and it is dark I am responsible for my actions and I want to be able to see my surroundings as well as possible.

I don't care if it's day or night, if a person can't tell a vehicle is moving just because their headlights aren't on then they've got no business being in this industry.

I was about to say the same thing. If you can't tell a vehicle is moving without headlights on then there's something wrong with your eyes.

i like the idiots who sleep right across from you all night long with them on,they rank right up there with the ones who are always blinding you while you try to back in.
