there are eastern states that have a law requiring your HEADLIGHTS, not running lites, be on when raining. this is a good law. I can see people coming up beside me in the spray. I've been doing it before it was a law.
It is also common sense to want to be seen by other drivers. right? WRONG !
I see more drivers trying to pass me and I didn't even see them coming!!!
GET YOUR HEAD OUT OF YOUR BUTT AND HANG UP THE PHONE !!!!!
THINK ABOUT THE OTHER DRIVERS OUT THERE !!you may be able to see fine, but, can I see you??

It is a good idea. I know my company with all the gasoline were hauling and the cities we work in is better of when we use this practice. There's been many studies done on how much safer it is to run with you headlights on when the conditions require this. Just think about it for a second. I'm cruising down a surface street, it's raining so I'm driving slower, and I'm going to one of my stations when I approach an intersection and a car makes a left turn right in front of me. What's the first words out of their mouth? I"I DIDN'T SEE YOU". The only problem we had, and it was job specific, was when the truck pulled up to the loading rack to get loaded. The drivers would forget to shut them off before they pulled into the loading area.

it's been the law for quite a few yrs now. the biggest problem is running beside me in the spray from my wheels
TRKRSHONEY Thanks this. -
My car/truck is silver/gray so I don't need to turn them on in the rain.

Edit: Is Comic Sans a good font to indicate sarcasm?RockinChair, TRKRSHONEY, STexan and 2 others Thank this. -
Another time to turn on your headlights is when you're chasing your shadow and it's longer than the truck. Or to put it differently, when the sun is blinding those coming towards you.
TRKRSHONEY and Numb Thank this. -
those silver ones are freaking invisible !!!!!!!
and yes ,the sun behind you is another. people just don't think about being seen anymore.
if I run your butt over all my "T"s will be crossed.as in NOT MY FAULT!!TRKRSHONEY Thanks this. -
I've always said--I am not in favor of additional laws--BUT--since so many people don't get the common sense factor--I guess there is no other choice--I've also said forever--I would love to put soccer Mom in my truck during a rainstorm as she hangs out in the left lane--or speeds up as I pass her--in a rainstorm--and let her look in the mirror and try to see her vehicle w/out lights on and see what they have to say then.
Just my $.02EZX1100, Numb, TRKRSHONEY and 2 others Thank this. -
Whats up with Florida and 4-ways in the rain?
That is so not helpful, unless they are going slower than traffic.RockinChair Thanks this. -
I think it is common sense to have your headlights on .

Are you kidding? She'd be screaming so load you couldn't even think right. Then she might have messed your truck up. Not a good idea!!!!!!
