That, or turn your headlights off and back on. Either one wil do.

The unsaid rule is,... when a trucker passes you and you think it's safe to get over you turn your headlights off. Then you turn them back on. You do not flash your high beams! I repeat you do not flash your high beams!!! If you are the driver that is passing the truck you thank the driver that turned his lights off for you to let you know it was safe to get over by using your clearance lamps. That means turning your clearance lamps on and off and.
if is not possible to turn your lights off. In a safe manner then don't do it. Do not flash your high beams. it blinds the driver when they're trying to get over.

Maybe I've been doing this wrong all my life, but if I'm pulling into a truck stop at 10pm and there's a bunch of pedestrian traffic heading for the restrooms or dinner, and several trucks waiting for others to park, then I leave my lights ON.

If I pull in at 2am and I can hear snoring over the refers, then I go to headlights OFF if it seems safe and I can see pretty well.

Is this two pronged approach over complicating things?

While I'm here, I also go to clearance and hazards if I'm waiting for someone to park so my headlights don't affect their night vision while they are backing. I keep my hand near the light switch and horn if I'm on their blind side so that I can flip them on and toot if it looks like they will hit something.

Again... this could be wrong, but it's always made sense to me.

Have you ever backed in and had somebody's headlights shining in your eye's or mirror? Common courtesy is rolling through the lot at a slow speed with lights of. Just run your marker lamps.

I wear my safety vest because I'm lazy. It's required for the shipper and required for the receiver so I just don't bother to take it off. :)

I go to Rural King and get pocket tee shirts for like 3.99 each that are florescence green and 100% cotton which I like, that nylon/ polyester crap itches me. I just wear them all the time I'm working, which is required on Railroad property.
