I use my BP BT250XT for comms, it does a very good job on bg noise. No issues with sound quality on mine, maybe previous poster had a lemon? I just got a set of Aftershox Titanium bone conduction phones. I absolutely love them for tunes and audio books. (The mic quality is not so good, lots of bg noise, so I still use my BP BT250XT for comms.) I have significant tinnitus due to a lot of stupid in my younger days, with these Aftershox, I'm hearing frequencies I haven't heard in decades. I'm wondering if they're legal. They don't cover the ear canal at all, so ambient sounds are heard, even with the toons cranked, but according to the earlier posted regs, are probably illegal. I guess I'll just be careful.
My truck radio has Bluetooth, I listen to music from my iPhone that way. It also works for phone calls. I still prefer using my little Plantronics M70 earpiece for calls, though. Those big headsets that make you look like a fighter pilot are just showing off!
I use the earpiece too. I never quite understood why drivers walk around in truck stops with head sets on talking to people as they walk. And I really don't get why the foreign drivers like to sit in the bathroom stalls talking on speaker phone.
The two brands of headset I used allowed any audio from the phone to play over the headset. One was a Blue Parrot, the other was Blue Tiger. As for why people would walk around with a headset, it's pretty simple. It allows you to use both hands and still talk on the phone. Another reason is that the speaker on their phone could be going bad. This is currently an issue with my phone. Until I get home to replace the speaker($8), I've got to use the headset. The alternative is to shell out a few hundred to replace a phone that otherwise works great.
Yes, few of the bluetooth headsets CANNOT be used for phone calls And to listening to music. All of the "hang around your neck" types will do both. All of the Blue Parrots models newer than 2-3 years will do both. In every state it is illegal to have both ears covered or plugged with headphones or ear buds. It doesn't matter if you are using them for phone calls or music. If both ears are covered/plugged it's an offense.
Legality varies by state. I wouldn't worry about it, but I would yank them off before crossing scales.
I am cheap. I only use points to buy my blue tooth, no cash. There are more expensive Blue Parrots but the 250 works for my purposes. I have the usb charger with my current 250 but was happy with the old charger. I would hope that there are better quality headphones on the market but my first blue tooth was a jawbone and people said I sounded great however I could hear almost nothing in the truck going down the road. In a quiet room it sounded great but had no volume to override truck noise.
There are hearing aids built to order that will accept blue tooth music etc. Whatever you can send to them wirelessly it will play for you. No headsets needed. However I use a one odio at home that I snagged as a workaround on sale at 40 not too long ago. Big enough to take the range i listen at. I am plotting to go up to a bigger headset to really rock without burning them up.
