I'm not an O/O, but I am a Health Insurance Broker. I can tell you this much, all of the products you mentioned are available to you as an O/O. I recommend grabbing a phone book and calling your local Independent Agent or Broker. They'll be able to quote you from several different companies and you can pick the one that suits you best.
HEALTH Insurance.....Who do you use? What kind of Coverage do you have?

Ditto. I used an independent broker and got a darn good Blue Cross/Blue shield plan with an HSA at a pretty decent rate. Not counting the HSA, I got my plan cheaper than a similar BC/BS plan when I was a company driver. I preferred going the HSA route since all contributions to the HSA are deductable and the Insurance part is considerably less than a comparible 80/20 plan most are familiar with.
There are considerable tax advantages to going the HSA route.
I got my Occ/Acc policy thru the carrier I work with. They had a decent plan with a rate that I couldn't pass up compared to what others wanted. -
If you join the National Association for the Self-Employed (NASE), they offer several health plans with different options at group rates. It's like getting health insurance through a large corporation. I'm not an O/O, but I used to have my own small business, and their rates beat HMOs at the single person/family rates. I think they offer Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Humana, United Health Group, Aetna, and others.
Just google National Association for the Self-Employed.KittyKat501 Thanks this. -
Diabetes is a hard insurer. I would do alot of looking prior to leaving the coverage she has. When I sold insurance, it was one of the knockout questions. -
I am actually looking for new insurance also. Blue Cross just jacked my rates by $50/month and I am a 26 yr old in perfect health.
Maybe I'll look into the NASE.

Looking for info from some O/O's on what health insurance plan they use, and why? Looking for some cost effective ones that I won't have to cover a bunch of crap out of pocket for pre exsisting conditions and all that other mumbo jumbo that they try to pull on you now a-days.. Any info is appreciated, even if you derail the thread =P
At some point i may have friends driving for me and I don't find it humane to employ anyone without offering insurance, that's just me, i know it's expensive so skip that lecture, I don't need to get rich, just make a living. -
the vast majority of us just don't have any
