Personally, I would love to see fitness centers available to truckers. However, I would probably only use it during bad weather. I'm an outdoorsy kind of girl, and prefer to exercise outside if it's feasible. Plus, all us truckers are used to working out without a gym, so it would take time to change our habits.

This idea is something I looked into a bit about 2 years ago. However, I just don't believe it's feasible. You just won't get enough drivers in to make it a viable economic model. I think the key to helping drivers is to educate them on what they can do on their own, in their own trucks. This way a driver can stop wherever he/she wants to to work out, and will never have to wait for equipment to be empty.

As an example, since I have a highrise Pete, I can do a good amount of weight workouts in there. I also purchased a stepper that has only the base for the feet, and the hydraulics. No hand rails. This way I can use it anytime the weather is crappy out.

Education, and getting companies to start subsidizing the cost of exercise equipment, or even getting some health and fitness coaches to do workshops for drivers, will go a long way in helping drivers in gaining a healthier image over the long term.
