I already have it buddy. I have 2 in fact.
Back on topic @Happily Retired check this out and this is why I won't work for ODFL. I met a driver that left them and came to Estes. He had 7 years seniority and ran linehaul. When covid hit, his terminal (Jackson, TN) laid off THE ENTIRE LINEHAUL FLEET. That even included THE TOP GUY WITH 25 YEARS!!!!
He said they're now struggling to hire drivers. He said he found out the terminal manager made this call and the higher ups didn't even know he had done this. That's straight BS. The southaven terminal has 300+ dock doors, is open 364 days a year, and pretty much did the same. They laid off mostly everyone with under 15 years.
Estes didn't lay anyone off forcefully. They offered city guys the option to get unemployment but we kept moving. They told us... "You might not work every day, but you're going to work." To bypass this, I would leave on Saturdays and rotate myself to a Sunday start. Freight is ALWAYS there on weekends. When they got wind of this and stopped it because we were taking freight from Sunday guys, I would get to either ABQ, DENVER, EL PASO, ETC and reset. I'd tell Central to put a note in the system that says "Follow the freight, 650 miles a day" and they made it happen.Speed_Drums, Texas_hwy_287, Muskie and 1 other person Thank this. -

I want a linehaul job out of Vegas.
Out and back, to Phoenix,Reno,California,
Salt lake, anywhere I can make a turn in a day.
No, I'm not working the docks, I'd rather sit home.
No, I'm not doing local grunt work.
Driving only.
Any leads.
Part time is fine.Jay5GS Thanks this. -
Estes is short 6 drivers in Vegas, I learned, while out west here, from a Vegas driver.LPjunior1970 and Western flyer Thank this.

FedEx Freight is hiring at their northern Las Vegas terminal. No dock work, but mostly night driving.Texas_hwy_287 and Western flyer Thank this.

Do you run extraboard out that way? Even the crappiest schedule run at the Vegas terminal I bet is pretty decent with the distance between the terminals.
-
Yes, I run extraboard for Estes and am out west, often. I'm from the Minneapolis barn, but I stay out for 2 to 3 months at a time. The Vegas to Phoenix run is nice, being just over 300 miles each way. My favorite run is Denver to Des Moines, around 673 miles. I average about 3500 miles a week with 6 days on and one day for reset. I wouldn't know about all the bid runs out of Vegas, but like most terminals you have a variety of short, 400 mile runs with long, over 600, at different times of the day/night, received on seniority. With extraboard it doesn't matter, I'm going to put in 8 to 11 hours of driving every shift. The difference, your living out of hotels, as opposed to going home every shift.BeHereNow97 and LPjunior1970 Thank this.

We have something in common. That denver to Des Moines is one of my favorites also. It's a great run and pays so lovely.

Does everybody start on the extra board
And wait for a regular run to open up.
Your basically running OTR pulling doubles.
I thought those linehaul guys were home
Every night or at least every other night.
I'm OTR now. I'm not going to pull doubles OTR.
I'll just stay where I'm at.
I'm trying to home more.
