There are some decent companies. I found one, but it took a lot of research.

Unless Heartland changes and offers a weekly pay guarantee to its drivers, you are just blowing smoke up a55es.

What about after that???? I am guaranteed a weekly pay that actually exceeds my weekly mileage pay. It is like being salaried. I love my carrier for this. They take good care of my needs and I do the same for them.

Nice! Thanks for sharing. Perhaps it's worth considering expanding our program.

To this point, we've found that the new drivers can sometimes be challenged by miles, but once they get through the introductory period, they hit average and above average miles on a regular basis.

Unless the driver is a lazy deadbeat, the miles, or lack thereof, are dependent on the carrier. One time, my carrier had to have me sit in New York State for 2 1/2 days. I still grossed $1200 that week.

Ohh man your just asking for it aren't you.
I don't know where to start.

I thought about coming over there 4 or 5 years ago.
Your drivers thankfully talked me out of it.
None of them had anything good to say.
Most hated it and where on there way out the door.

Your freight sucks. You have what I call rich/poor freight.
The company gets rich and the driver gets poor.
Way too many 300 mile loads.
That's the worst freight there is.
Sit all day wide awake then drive halfway thru the night
    When your tired.
Notice I said halfway because your loads aren't even
Long enough for the driver to get a full days pay.

1500 to 2200 miles a week ain't gonna cut it.
And that's hard miles and bumping docks every day.
You want a full time driver on part time pay.

2 to 3 hours to get thru your inspection bays.
Free of charge of course. Only excuse you have this
Is drivers dumb enough to put up with it.

Now the main reason I would never walk thru
Your door looking for a job.
Your idling policy and no apu.
I want a truck that idles no matter what the temperature
Is and a apu unit. So when the apu goes down I can
Still run the truck and get my sleep.

I used to feel sorry for your drivers with thier
Windows down sweating like a dog from the humidity.
Can't turn the truck on because someone in your
Air conditioned office says he doesn't need it.

The same person who set his thermostat at 65 before
He left the house to keep his dog nice and cool
    While they where at work.
Animals are treated better then you treat your drivers.

But I don't feel sorry for them anymore.
If there dumb enough to put up with all these things
Then they deserve every crappy short load and
Miserable nights rest that they get.
They're free to turn the truck in anytime they please.

Thanks for sharing. That's constructive feedback.

I'll touch on your main points to offer a deeper perspective. While short- to medium-range hauling is some of the most challenging freight out there, it also allows us to compensate our drivers with more cents per mile. We are upfront about the length of our runs in our advertising, when we are on the phone with prospective drivers, and during the orientation process. Additionally, we check in with drivers several times a month to confirm their needs are being met. Say what you will about the challenges that come with that type of freight, but it is a driver's decision to join our company. We may not be for everyone, and that is okay. The benefit, as previously stated, is that we're able to outpay our competition in many cases.

We use opti idles across our fleet, allowing us to maximize efficiency and comfort. That's a very challenging balance to maintain, as you mentioned.

We don't have any divisions averaging 1500 miles per week. In almost all cases, the average across the board is greater than 2,000 miles per week. Just want to clear that up. When you couple that with pay that is a several cents higher than most everyone else, the payoff mkes for a very compelling offer. Again, possibly not for everyone. But, we are the right fit for many drivers.

Here's the problem you are obviously missing - you wouldn't need social media damage control if you treated your drivers well enough that they would voluntarily be spokesmen for the company.
