Maybe a new thread should be started for this discussion on YRC.

Bigdog, don't know how old you are, but my response was for what you put out there about driven for YRC.
I take same position as Truthin,"if this works for you, and makes you happy" ? Go for it, Driver...!
You have my respect, but this forum from what I understand is to share information.
So if I read like a "parrot" cool, you weren't there.
This isn't a "hand me down" story.
I was there, I was part of it, and I'm Blessed to be around to tell it.
Your angry about something, and I wish you well with your "doom & gloom" in whatever your do.
There are slow periods, it's a "hog board situation" and seeing your just starting out with YRC, your on the bottom of seniority.
Guess will see were your at in 6 months too there Bro... !
1 last point of information with teamsters...
There's a period when business is slow, and you don't work a full week or get 40 hrs., You...have to makeup a portion of that payment the carrier doesn't pay toward your health & welfare to the union..?
I'm sure your union steward will provide you with that info when that time comes.

I said you read like a parrot because everybody thinks they gotta give out a history lesson on what it 'used to be like" or "we'll see where your at in 6 months"... I have lots of senority, I haven't been cut or laid off EVER...besides this aint about me...its about ALL drivers and the industry as whole how it just goes through drivers and spits them out...We must stop signing up to do L/O and working for nothing... Dont work for free and dont run over your hours to keep your job...I just hate companies that do this SHEEETTT !! :biggrin_255::biggrin_255: BTW did you lose money when you bet that YRC would be closed down by now ?? WE aint going nowhere....

:biggrin_25523: You read like a typical "freight hauler" always "show boat'n about how much your making, and think "the well" won't run dry..? :biggrin_25523:
Like I said you enjoy that life driver, been there, done that ! :biggrin_25525:
No I didn't bet on your carrier fold'n I got about 2 more yrs,
    till I retire !:biggrin_255:
It's very unlikely we shall ever cross paths other then this thread, but there's 1 thing for sure..?
The Good Lord Will'n in 2 yrs. you'll still be work'n hope'n teamsters will pay you a pension when you get to the end ? I'll be retired, collect'n my pension, and it won't be TEAMSTERS ! :biggrin_255:
Have A Blessed Easter Weekend Bro..!

You are right about companies folding. Seen a lot of huge ones go. McLean was #3 in US and they shut it down. Roadway/Yellow could announce tomorrow they are shutting down. Teamsters will sell out their members in a heartbeat. Been there done that. You have a nice Easter as well.

wernerschneiderswiftusatrucktransportamericajbhuntheartlandexpressusxpresscretecarrierscrstandamillionotherbottomfeedingcompanies. I've been hunting something local since last October and found nothing so far that will balance the minimum $ I need to bring home and the home time. After my latest lease purchase fiasco with STI (CRST) I am sick to my stomach of OTR. Every company I've been with just treats you as a # and the one that didn't (STI) were just straight up crooks... I can't breathe for drowning...

Yes it was, and the economy was very different then it is today.
Manufactured good were not as big oversea 's as we see now.
ABF kept McLean just under 5 years, and closed it, then bought Carolina Freight, which you remember too.
So with the hand full of union carriers left ?
UPS doesn't pay Teamsters benefits, and pension for there drivers, only for contract, which they have started negotiations for next year.
What makes these drivers think there's going to be a light at the end of the tunnel ?
    Between McLean & C. F. (corn flake's) got 14 yrs.
C.F. was Independent Teamsters later joined with the international.
They'll fight me till the day I die before they'll pay me any of the pension I'm entitled too. :biggrin_25523:

I didn't see your age, on your profile Richard, but with 3 yrs. experience, and a good MVR you should be good to go anywhere ?:biggrin_2558:
From N.C. have you looked into Averitt ?
I did here, and they offered me Regional out of Ft. Wayne.
41 1/2 CPM. No pay raises on CPM's
Information I've gotten, the play by the rules, and so will you as a driver for them.
They have a "dress code", they provide uniforms.
I also saw that Epps outfit, & they have the Loews account for dedicated ?
I delivered to their DC near Statesville ?
    FYI :biggrin_2558:
I'm of the opinion, that OTR will become a "faded memory"
unless it's teams, or your an O/O.
I went to work for Mclean Trucking summer of 1977 in Chicago.
They just finished closing there "team operation" and went to line haul, slip seat where the truck kept moving, and you went to the motel for your rest, and the next driver took over.
Back in the 90's Yellow Freight ran teams, and drivers either quit on the spot, & called someone to pick them up.
Some couldn't get along, and fights happen right on the side of the road, or in truck stops.
It's a "tuff call" to work with someone else, and have to spend long periods of time in confined quarters.
Think husband & wife teams are no better from what I've seen at these truck stops.
UPS has teams, but at 35.00 plus an hour who wouldn't make that work. lol
Regional can be good, but you have to keep moving.
Schneider had delays that required time to resolve the problem, and that eats up your 14 hr. clock.
Too many of them in a week and you've made no revenue.
"Live loads & unloads", you have to know how to work that electronic log to your advantage.
Stay away from Lease Purchase, you want to buy a tractor out right, or just a straight lease.
    Been There Done That.....Prime 1985. :biggrin_25524:
Was out the way headed south to OK. and drove right past the terminal ?
Wasn't that big back in 85... with all those new tractors, just wait'n for the next victims to sign up & pay the taxes for property they sat on !:biggrin_25523:
Be Well Keep Safe, Be Blessed !
    Happy Easter...!:biggrin_255:

I was lease purchase through CRST then transferred to STI when they merged. I had trained students for CRST and hired my last one and we ran great for 10 mths. Made great money and good hometime. Then they fired him for a speeding ticket and thats when I went to STI. (CRST= teams, STI= solo). I grossed over $32,000 in 4 mths and only brought home $2,700... So after buying on this truck for 2/3 way through I had to give it up and went company with US Xpress dedicated Dollar Tree account (another mistake) I'm currently wanting a dream job which would be shift work and bring me $3,000 a mth. I have a good driving record. 1 non preventable. 1 lane violation ticket which will come off in 3 mths... I'm 38 yrs old, safety minded (because I wanna come home and enjoy life :biggrin_25523: ) and tired of otr but don't feel like I should have to break my back or run illegal or shabby equipment or put up with idiots or attitude in dispatch. I want too much huh? lol ...
