That has always been my experience, that you will increase 1 to 2 degrees fahrenheit per hour with intransit heat in operation. And you can lose several degrees per hour when intransit heat is not in operation. Depending upon the temperature or the product, the quantity of product, and the outside temperature.
It is also best to check to make sure your steam valves are closed, before opening your H.I.T. (Heat In Transit) valves. H.I.T. uses the same coil lines that steam uses, so if the last time steam was used on the trailer, if they didn't close those valves, your coolant will run straight thru and out onto the ground.
