Heater hose routing

    I have a 1997 pete with 3406e can I use either port on the back of the water pump for heater hose position. Can I move the hose outlet from the rear of the block to one of the pipe plugs on the oil cooler. Which way does it flow out of waterpump to firewall then back into the block or block to firewall then into the ports on rear of water pump
