    Absolutely...lol

    This taken from Wikipedia:
Tamaqua, (pronounced tuh-MAH-qwah) was taken from the territory of West Penn and Schuylkill Townships, named for the Tuscarora king of the Turkey Clan, Chief Tahkamochk, or Tam-a-kwah. The name is unique because Tamaqua is the only community in the world with this name.

I've taken the sage wisdom of the Water Boy. Drinking lots of good old H2O in the last couple of weeks. Spending up to a few hours at a time in the heat while loading a flatbed I might go through a liter or more. "Back away from the soft drinks!" Anything with sugar in it, like energy drinks or sports drinks or soda pop, will end up giving you the sugar rush and collapse.

By the way, I read a very interesting piece of research about muscle cramps. For decades scientists have been trying to figure out exactly why muscles cramp. The prevailing wisdom has been that it must be an electrolyte imbalance and that you need to constantly replenish those in the form of Gatorade, salt, etc. This guy figured out that it isn't the muscle cells that are the problem, it's the nerves firing when they shouldn't.

The solution: drink or eat HOT spices to trick the nerves into avoiding firing on the muscles. I've tried it. Added a few drops of tobasco or Cholula Chili Garlic Sauce to my drinking water. Works great and I tend to work more comfortably in the heat. Been doing this for a couple of weeks and don't get those gawdawful "Charlie Horse's" when I'm sleeping.

    Hmmm....

I thought "charley horse" was just a Baltimore term used by people for whom simply "cramp" made too much sense...

Of course, we have other odd quirks too. For some reason no one here can say "toilet" and "oil". It's "toolet" and "ool".

I think every part of the country has their own expressions. "Frog sticker" for a rain storm, or "comin' down like a cow peein' on a flat rock":D

This was what my dad called them. He grew up in Pueblo, CO and served during WWII. I remember many a time at the dinner table dad would cry, "Charlie Horse!" and start writhing in pain. It was great entertainment for us kids, but just don't let on how entertaining or he would "entertain" our behinds as soon as he could move.

I gave up sodas almost 10 years ago. I think water is best for everything. The number one key is pre hydrating yourself, and continuing to do so. I down a 1/2 liter bottle as soon as I roll out of bed. Typically go through 3 to 4 liters in a day.

Well 113 or better, no relief in sight. Many of you are failing again on the tire pressures, as there are LOTS of fresh one between here & Tucson, and that's with a tire clean up truck working both sides of the highway !!!!

DPS has some new toys. '16 Dodge Chargers 100% un marked, charcoal gray. Enjoy trying to spot those.

Big Don and Lepton1 Thank this.
