You're definitely right. I go about things with that same attitude and it seems to work well.

You should have someone else secure the load for you too. And a beautiful woman who's always in a good mood to give you a neck and shoulder rub when you get stressed. And a dispatcher who's only purpose in life is to serve you. And a valet to park your truck and a bellhop to carry your shower bag

    MackDaddyMark and SHC Thank this.

I think you are doing exactly what it takes to succeed as a one man show. The customer has to have a reason to call you instead of Maverick, TMC or even someone like me. By the very nature of being a one man show, you aren't going to be where they need you to be every time. So you better develop that relationship so they will offer you a little flexibility. As long as they will pay you a reasonable rate go for it. Stay laid back and keep thinking with the business side of your brain.

It is never going to be a perfect science, but you have to put yourself out there and take some chances or you won't work out the bugs. Just keep looking at the big picture...are you making money? Then keep moving forward, putting in maximum effort, and keep trying to improve. That is one of my favorite things to do with a customer. Get my foot in the door for a little part of their business. Learn more about what they do and capture more of their business. Do a great job, solve some problems for them and gain more business. It can really be fun some days (and some days not so much). I have been close enough to the corporate world to know that it wouldn't have been a good fit for me. I like having control over my success or failure.

Thats how I would do it also. Find where that customer is having problems with other trucking companies, fix that for them and then some and make your name known to them so they think of your truck/s when they need something moved. Basic concepts of my old job in the corp can pertain to any aspect of any situation just have to twist some things around for it to relate to a civilian view point.

War Eagle. ALL the way. #### tide fans do not know how to do anything. They got a winning team cuz they chose the winner. Next year he'll pic k the winner again. Ten years ago he was a Gator fan. 8 years ago he was LSU. Fence riding tide fans. BOOOH. LOL. ROLL TIDE DUDE AND WAR FRIKKIN EAGLE. 4 years in a Row for the state of Albama. I'd say we might know a thing or two about Football. And Tarping. Back to the point. Passing Thru that looks like an easy load. He needs some press machines or some Water tanks. Or give him an easy one some of those copper squares. You know the ones that come out of the ports and tear your tarps all up.
