I better read my Washington permit better next time I get one, I always sign it in black, only been asked for it once and the scale cop didn't say a thing.

I didnt have a blue pen once in GA so i signed "Sorry I didn't have a blue pen" in black pen. The scale master down at Valdosta got a good laugh. But handed me a blue pen

LOL That's great! I have one of those little truck stop books and it was great just for times and curfew info. It had the website listed for the states provision webpage which was nice also.

I understand that, I liked it because of the curfew times mostly. I also had all the provision sheets in my truck for all the states that offered them and would highlight the certain things like that to be able to see at a glance instead of having to read through 3 pages to find curfew times or certain things like that. In the book that I have, I have yet to find any curfew info that is wrong. There is other stuff that is incorrect about the sizes of loads and pilots needed and those things but that's what a provision sheet is for. 15 bucks for this little book and I thought it was 15 bucks well spent.

Also pay attention to shut down times. GA is half hour after sunrise and half hour before sunset. Others usually is half before sunrise and half after sunset.
Indiana is critical about having the provisions sheet.

Maryland is the same as GA with the start and end drive times. 1/2hour after sunrise, 1/2 hour before sunset.

I may be mistaken, but I believe that Nevada requires the red ink signature like Bama. I always stress to my guys to do their homework, and I give them examples of why. Most of the states will roll me on through without an issue. Sometimes, though, you run into a scale master that did his homework and he's going to test you when you come in.

Louisiana: Driver, do you know what time the sun sets today?
Six: Yessir. 1923. I will be crossing the state line at 1915.
    Louisiana: Have a good day.

Arizona: Do you know what your speed limit is?
    Six: 55.

Illinois: Do you have the new provision sheets to go along with your permit?
    Six: Yessir, right here.

Tennessee: Do you have a 360 degree light on the back of the trailer?
Six: I have two of them.

Arkansas: Do you have a pilot car for the 2 lane?
Six: Yessir, he's in the parking lot.

Florida (female scale master came outside with her height stick) The sensors say that you're 16'5, but my height stick says you're 15'11. Which is it?
Six: I measured 16'5. There's a section at the top that you can't see unless you climb on top.

Six: At what width do we need a pilot car?
    Saskatchewan: How wide are you?
    Six: 15'4
Saskatchewan: Can you keep the load on your side of the road?
    Six: Ummm, yes.
Saskatchewan: Then you're good to 16 ft.

If you are on this site, you are obviously computer literate. Forget the books and go straight to the state websites. Make a bookmark to the oversize provisions or rules. We subscribe to the SC&RA oversize guide. I use it a quick reference, but when push comes to shove, I am getting my info from the state web site or one of their employees and recording their name.
