I never want nothing to do with flatbeds. I do enjoy seeing some of the loads you all have though.

That's one thing I will not discuss. What I make. That's between me and uncle Sam and my tax man. One thing I will say is I won't ever go back to regular freight in my life time.

I posted this in the load refusal thread. And it's not even heavy haul. Y'all know the story. Talk to broker. Go over legal permitted dimensions. Send pictures of trailer. Specify deck height. Specify max load height. Get sent a rate con with dimensions. Show up. Nowhere close to what's on the rate con. Go home empty.

Lots of lube. 747 in a doghouse door lube.

I do have a friend of the family who does heavy haul and tried to convince me to go that route.

(I had that from SF Bay Area to San Diego to pick up a crane from Surplus Coronado, and I got so many honks and waves and cars going past, then slowing down to take pictures lol)

And hey! I had my 4 points of tiedown! (4 tiny zip ties holding it to the chains ;) )

It's rude. It's the worst part of the job. And it happens every single day. "Hey man, how much do you make?"

Yeah, I can see it in your eyes...you have no idea how to do my job, but you think you can because 'it's just driving', right?

And the heavyhauler thinks, "Ignorant moron." But instead, he tells you, "Sir, there's more involved in this job than what you think." And that's definitely NOT what you want to hear, that you don't know... And so you get even more belligerent and tell the guy that he is an arrogant arse. And I will tell you, "YES, I AM. Now that you understand that, do you wish to converse some more?"

It gets old. Everyone saw that load pull into the parkinglot. One person stops you on your way to the shower, and another stops you on the way to the restaurant. Within 5 minutes, they think that they know more than you. Biggest insult ever. Yet, they expect you to be nice and helpful.

    Yeah right...

I don't miss my 13. You parked and the wanna be's circle like vultures. The true big haulers might walk over and say hello and shoot the breeze. That's fine if I have the time.
The wanna be's get frustrating to deal with. You try to be polite
I still get it with just my 8...but not as much

I remember Big Ronnie having to struggle finding a place to unstack his trailer. And then he gets to the shipper and had to walk away from the load because he was too big to fit down the street and couldn't make the turn. No one sees that. They just see the big yellow trailer. So then, he pulls into the truckstop empty, and the wannabe asks him about his money. Ron, you're good man. I would love to see you go to Thailand. Reward yourself, friend.
