Was it the marines that taught you to be an ahole? Like, the guy is new, why go off on him? I thought this place was about trying to help people out? The 4th post in this thread was about rates, so he was on subject.

Everyone in the flatbed forum was always nice to me and helpful to everyone around. I'd appreciate it, if you would continue that trend instead of being rude to newby's and chasing them out of the industry. I'd much rather have a person willing and trying to learn on the road next to me, instead of someone who just got there CDL and think's they know it all.

The 4th post was a joke about rates for hauling a toy.

I agree with being helpful but if guys don't have enough sense to post what a company pays in the appropriate place they probably do not have enough sense to make it very far trucking. That might sound harsh but its the truth.

    MJ,

I've read enough of your posts, that I respect your viewpoint. and I generally agree with you. But I took the time to read the 16 open ended posts of the poster in question to realize, yea he is super nieve and he doesn't show a natural progression to be an open deck trucker but to me, he shows the right principals of someone willing to learn and someone that has an open mind and someone that wants to learn.

He obviously needs direction and isn't a natural driver but he is finding a way to get ahead of the game, in his own right, that I think he is showing a willingness to learn and get ahead, and if you have those skills / desires, you will succeed.

You may be correct. It drives me nuts how so many guys show up and make a few random posts that have nothing to do with the original topic then disappear. I hope that is not the case with this guy I guess we will see.

I can appreciate your viewpoint and ill back off and see what takes place.

    .
I agree, when I first got started in trucking, I was on an expedite forum and it had a bajillion wanna be's with a van that wanted to get into the business. It gets annoying like you said. But I was one of those people a few years ago, so in my quest to learn, I decided to try read through the bs to see the difference between those of us that have that calling and those that want to chase easy money.

SOme of us, just have it in our blood and others don't. But that is what I love about this business. THe people that taught me and helped me even though they didn't know me before I walked up and asked for help. I had zero experience but I knew, the best thing was to ask questions and not lie. BUild a reputation. THat's what got me to where I am today. Being honest and true. I always knew, I was better than most but I never lied about what I didn't know, I always needed help and guidance. BUt I was wiling to learn and I put in the hours and did wahtever it took.

Nope, I was born an #######. I try to help many on here and I also look and have looked for a lot of help on here. It does get tiring that in almost every thread, no matter what it about, someone pops up and ask questions about rates.

Now here's a heavy load! Stopped at rest area I88 W at Unadilla NY and this rig pulls up next to me. 2 trooper escort, 2 reg escorts, trailer wheel operator, service truck and a camper to sleep in I guess.

Guy said it was going to I91 in Vermont. I asked a lot of questions but what impressed me was that he said with fees, permits, tolls, etc. it would cost about a million bucks for transport alone. Weighed 280,000 lbs
