If the 1117 code keeps popping up and all the wiring looks and tests good, you might have to try a test ecm.

I just found a ground I never cleaned..... this would make some sense potentially so I'll clean er up. I cleaned all the outside ones but missed the inside. I got thinking, where do all these modules ground too....... 15246187678231693162640.jpg

    Right there.......

Wife is running me out a ecm I have. Not 100% sure it'll work as it's off a deleted cm870 and mines a deleted cm871 but I'll give it a try after I clean these grounds up....

Yes, that is another spot easy to miss. Looks horrible, LOL! I do believe the engine harness will not connect as it has a different connector key.

Well cleaning those grounds didn't stop the problem, seems to take alot longer to shut down now but that could be coincidence. The 870 ecm ran fine for hours with no shutting down last night but I'm pretty sure the 870 gen can't multiplex like the 871 so I don't know if that's a good enough test.

Question @Heavyd have you ever seen the 1117 code cause bcm and data link issues with it?

I'm wondering if mine might be opposite and maybe I'm getting some sort of voltage surge when the truck stalls out. If you main wire or switched to the ecm drops below 6v then it'll trip 1117.

Still cannot seem to find the problem and it's driving me insane!

We have seen a couple of 871 ECM die when the engine is hot. Once the main board goes bad, anything is possible electronically as far as corrupting the data link is concerned. The 870 ECM was never in a Prostar or multiplexed truck, so I don't know what it's capabilities would be.

Volvo used 870 ecm, so they can be multiplexed.

Yeah I know you can go into insite and enable multiplexing but then I need to input all the systems from my truck as well I need to change a couple pins on the harness.... pain.

I put my ecm back on, started it and unplugged the brake module. It ran for over s hour then stalled again. Since cleaning those inner firewall grounds, it's been running longer between acting up.

After that it's ran fine since, 4 hours. I drove it 200 miles to finally unload my load right now and am about to drive back. I don't have a clue why or when it'll act up again though because I didn't do a #### thing today to fix it!

Do me a favor and change that #### terminating resistor near fuel actuators. Cheap and quick. Will make me sleep better!

Well I'm dead on the side of the road now, all the power loss codes but now I have a power loss transmission code as well...... trucks a autoshift. I fire it up and it dies right away, every now and then it'll fire then I can drive a few feet.......

While acting up, I checked ohms at every ecu on the data link and I've got 59.8ohm everywhere.

Today I checked the main power wire running from the battery to the mega fuses, .1ohm and the wires from mega fuses inside to the bcm as well as the one from mega fuse to my low voltage disconnect. Cleaned the connection at the disconnect also. I've got the disconnect bypassed.

Odd thing is I've been noticing my laptop will not stay connected long before the connection breaks and right now, it won't even connect. Diamond logic, service ranger and insite all won't connect......
