Back when, you’re probably right. But today a lot of weigh stations have laser height sticks on the inbound. Over 13’6” & they’ll hammer you. I know for a fact Florida is hard & fast on that! I tripped their sensors one day with a reffer, he came out & measured me & couldn’t explain why i set the sensor off.

I sent a message to the boss and I am now heading West from Indiana to Colorado, so I should be ok with the height limit set to 14'6" until I get back in the zone... the plan is that I will return to home base and trade trailers then. For now, if I get dinged , the company is aware....

I think OK is the only state west of the Mississippi river that the 14' is a no go.

Somewhere on here we discussed the states that allow single trailers over 53'. Something like 13 or 14 allow the 57' and a couple allow a 56'.

Some time ago, I heard something about double 53's being proposed as being legal. How is that safe? A single is challenging enough at times, why add to it?

Ohio has a problem with over 13’6”. Also will get kicked off the toll way over 13’6”

You can't run the toll road in Ks. over 13'6'' either.

They’ve been legal in Canada for several years now. Some of the best drivers on the road I’ve never seen one in the ditch

That NAV unit isn’t worth a crap for this issue. And your company won’t help you. it’s on you.

There are lots of sub 14-0 bridges on I90 in NY. I routinely set off the height measurement going through the toll booths and one day a new lady money taker in Utica called the troopers on me. He caught me just west of the Mass line. I told him don’t worry I run this route all the time. He said only one more bridge and you’re Mass’s problem don’t hit it.

You can run it up to 14', no higher. If you trip the over height sensor you have to wait for a trooper to come measure you.

Until I get my prepass, I am avoiding all toll roads... and even then, I won't use them unless I have to or I save significant amounts of time or miles by using them.... sometimes it works out that toll roads are actually further than avoiding them...

BTW, I passed cleanly through a scale with my 14' trailer, traveling light near Mebane, NC...
