That's ok, Hollywood can still use it in one of their mega disaster films. They'll drop it from a crane on fire. My daughter works in the movie biz and they did that for a 911 type TV show.FerrissWheel, FlaSwampRat, thelushlarry and 3 others Thank this.

Florida too,Jacksonville was their particular haunt!
Yes,drug screens are mandated by the FAA for aviation related job functions.FerrissWheel, FlaSwampRat, thelushlarry and 1 other person Thank this. -
I’d love to be the fly on the wall for the conference call between Schneider, the helicopter company, the FAA and the insurance companies involved!!
FerrissWheel, 201, thelushlarry and 1 other person Thank this. -
The helicopter was coming in for landing and all of a sudden it derated for a regen.
Kidding aside, it'll be months before the NTSB publishes a report, but I'm guessing there was a mechanical failure on the aircraft that caused this accident. A pilot landing a helicopter in a field isn't knowingly going to be flying that close to an object that can kill him/her, and this trailer didn't appear to be close to the edge of the property. However, this also assumes that the article is correct (after all, it is written by a journalist) and the helicopter wasn't flying in and out of the parking area.
It would likely be anti-climatic.
FAA- "The pilot was legally flying."
Trucking Co- "Mr. Helicopter company, you owe us money for the trailer damage."
Helicopter Co- "Mr. Insurance Agent, please pay the trucking company."
Insurance Co- "Claim denied. The trailer was orange and therefore visible."
Trucking Co- "Mr. Lawyer, please proceed with a suit against everyone."
years pass by
Trucking Co Lawyer- "Mr Trucking Co, here's your settlement check for the trailer in the amount of $50.00. My fees were $12,600,000 for handling the case. Have a nice day."Infosaur, FerrissWheel, MGE Dawn and 7 others Thank this. -

I say the Pumpkin driver will be blamed for putting the trailer in the wrong door!
D.Tibbitt, FerrissWheel, tscottme and 1 other person Thank this. -
Newbies should take note, in the trucking biz, nothing is certain. Here's a scenario, Pumpkin driver gets his dispatch on Friday aft., got a slew of hours, be home tomorrow no problem, ( after being out 3 weeks) wife has big plans, rounds the corner,,,the call to the dispatcher, if even around, would be even more priceless and then the call to the wife, ooo, that's gonna be the killer.
D.Tibbitt, FerrissWheel, Bud A. and 2 others Thank this. -
Think of the poor schmuck that is the 4th driver dispatched for that trailer. At most companies, just because A FEW drivers report the trailer is on fire, inverted, floating in the ocean is no reason for the trailer to be taken away from the dispatcher. They will keep dispatching it until the trucking company is sold to another company and changes dispatch systems.D.Tibbitt, FerrissWheel, 201 and 2 others Thank this.

Avoidable! Should have known a helicopter was gonna fall out of the sky and not parked there.....fired!
D.Tibbitt, FerrissWheel, 201 and 4 others Thank this.
