Hello to all you truckers out there. I am a student in a good tech trucking school right now in Wisconsin and will be done in the middle of Feb. I am looking for a job in the trucking field and could use some input I have asked my old man who has been driving for over 20 years and know to avoid some of the big guys. If you have a recommendation I am all ears.

    Thanks

    Chinatown Thanks this.

Good for you attending a tech school. What type of trucking are you interested in; 48 states, refrigerated, tanker, flatbed? Will you have all the endorsements & passport? Many companies that advertise "experience required" sometimes bend their hiring policy and hire new CDL grads from good schools, so apply with any companies that interest you. Can't remember the name now, should have written it down, but a meat plant in Southern WI was hiring; they ship pre-packaged meats all over.
    Check these websites for jobs:

    Indeed
    Careerjet
    Careerbuilder

    Check these companies:

    Melton Truck Lines
    JBS Carriers
    Superior Carriers

Start a list of companies that interest you, make sure you have the endorsements they require, and start the applications.

    Hello Chinatown,

I am looking at running refrigerated or dry van for a while then moving into tanker or flatbed possibly.

I currently have my endorsements for combination, tanker, triples, and hazmat is on its way.

I have been using the sites you mentioned and will be continuing just was looking for inside info on the companies in this part of the country that are not meat grinders..

    100's of companies in WI.

JBS Carriers has a terminal in Green Bay & it's mostly refrigerated.
The school you're attending may have the inside track on some WI companies that aren't the ususal meat grinders. Any boat manufacturers in WI? I did that for a couple of years for Pro-Craft and really liked the job; they sold out to some other outfit. Delivered to boat dealerships and marinas & sometimes to big boat shows all over the country.

    carneige Thanks this.
