Greetings. I'm new here as a registered user but I've been lurking and learning from a lot of you guys over the last couple of weeks. This place is an invaluable tool and I just wanted to say thank you to those that contribute to the discussions in whatever forum, form or fashion; it has been most helpful.

As for me, I'm entering my 4th week of a 4 week truck driving school in Charlotte, NC. I'm not sure where I'll end up working at this point but Schneider has my attention and now my application. It also helps that they have a hub here in Charlotte.

I wanted to run with Maverick, but I don't think flatbeds are a good option seeing as how I had major back surgery in June and am still recovering. The added physical requirements kind of killed the deal for me.

I'm wide open to any advice or conversation. I like to shut up and learn as I'm new to the trucking world. My goal at this point is to pay my dues OTR until I have the resume to find something more local with more hometime since I have a 2.5 year old that I absolutely adore and a wife I love very much. God and family come first.

Anyway, just wanted to say hello and again, thank you for the wealth of knowledge that is represented here. This is a great website.

    John

congratulations and good luck all at the same time bud..

Continue to think things through ahead of time all the time..plan any and all truck movements in your head before you do them, and when around other vehicles play the what-if game..stay on your toes when behind the wheel

Luckily for me my father used to own the school I'm now attending and he was, at one time, an instructor so I've had defensive driving, traffic law and things of that sort beaten into my head since I was young. Unfortunately I ignored a lot of it early when I was young and dumb and that made for a rather lengthy driving record. Now that I've grown up a bit I haven't had a ticket in years and take safety far more seriously.

You know what they say, Youth is wasted on the young.

Having a kid also puts a lot of things in perspective.
