Hello, my name is John (Juan), and was a vacuum truck driver in West Texas before coming to the Rio Grande Valley. My wife opened a small restaurant and we were working side to side. We close it (rent was skyrocketing to 4500!!) and we decided to keep offering delivery only. We have a few loyal customers ordering. I'm going to wait till April or May to go South of San Antonio and apply for a job in the oilfields again. But I want to get my TWIC and HAZMAT first. I really miss the oilfield. The silent nights, going to a battery, enjoying the stars, driving in the mud, and getting muddy! LOL
I miss you oilfield, very much, you were my man cave. And I miss that Mack truck. I know it was not perfect, but we have wonderful times together.
I miss the co-workers, some friends, and waiting at the disposals. I don't miss the red lights on top of them (#%&*^%$##$%^^%# ####!!)
I miss the water pits, and the free pecan pies.
I miss the rigs, where backing was a frightening experience, even for those experienced guys and ladies, because people parking vehicles in strategic positions to make our job painful. Or that magic combination of snow, mud, parking vehicles, you know, right?
I read a lot from the forum, and hopefully will be a part of the trucking family in a few months, again.
    See you at the road!
